Tuesday's with Intention: Is more education better? Will it help you earn more money in the workplace? Let me share a story of a friend who is looking to get an additional Masters Degree. I ran into this friend recently and he is one of the nicest guys you'll meet. He told me he's currently doing an MBA, but already has a Masters in Technology. I asked him why he's doing the MBA and he said his company is paying for it and it should be helpful for his career. I thought about his situation and really considered, will an MBA help him in his career, maybe??? But financially at least in the short-term it's not going to increase his paycheck. It's not going to move him into a new position in his company. It may not even move the needle for him down the road. Now you might be thinking I'm anti-education, which is definitely not true. I do however believe that in order to get ahead you need to figure out how you are going to contribute more value to your company. How can you create different results that contribute bigger impact? So back to my friend, and thinking about what might be more valuable than a second Masters degree. If I were his leader/manager I would want him to bring new skills to the team that we don't currently have on our team. Maybe our team doesn't have anyone that is skilled in AI that can help us leverage that technology, I would much rather he spend his time learning some specific skills in AI that could help us do our work more efficiently. Or maybe our team doesn't have a different technology or way of doing things that we could really use. Maybe we need a better way to get bite size information out to our team or the company at large and if he went and learned how to produce this type of content in a scalable way we could operate in a more productive manner across the company. The key take away is what skill can you learn that will drive financial impact, customer experience and ultimately business results that you could learn quickly and effectively and start making an impact today? Being intentional with your time, and what you learn can have a bigger impact more quickly dependent on what you focus on! I'd be curious to hear what you think? Let me know in the comments below. Tuesday's with Intention: Do you ever feel like the educational system isn't set up to provide some of the most important lessons to help you be more successful in life? I've found there is more non traditional education that has better information to help set you up for success, like some of the concepts taught in Rich Dad Poor Dad, by Robert Kiyosaki. I'll share just one principle about mindset and how it can create endless opportunity or stop you dead in your tracks. Robert asks a question to his two Dad's, one Rich, and one Poor. When Robert wanted to purchase a larger item and asked his Poor Dad if they could buy it, his dad would say, no we can't afford it. (Dead in your tracks) If he went to his Rich Dad and asked the same question, he would respond, how might we afford it. (Endless Opportunity) When I first read this story a massive light went off in my head that I've been trying to pass on to my kids. I don't want to be locked in a box and told I can't do something or can't buy something, that actually just makes me want to do it even more. They key is in the "how," how do I figure out how to make it come to pass. When you think about how might we do this, your brain starts firing off different ideas. You start to get creative on what you could do to put yourself in a position to achieve what you want. I no longer tell myself or my kids we can't afford something, I simply ask how might we and then do the work. REVVED TALENT

Hiring Manager's - if you want to hire the best talent, you have to improve your candidate experience. How much effort are you willing to give? Here are a few easy things you can implement right now that won't cost you any 💰: 👇🏼 👉🏼 Know who you're talking to - Spend some time reviewing the candidate's resume or any notes on the candidate well in advance.(Not 5 minutes before) When you know specific details about the candidates experience and share aspects with them during the interview it's like a massive boost of endorphins releases and the candidate will feel validated. 👉🏼 Be on time at all costs - Whether you are the CEO or the janitor it's not ok to be late. Most companies fail at this very simple task, don't be like most companies! Show candidates you value their time and that you're serious about this conversation. 👉🏼 Be present - Turn off your phone, laptop, or any other distraction that will take you away from complete focus on the interview. If you're too tempted to sneak a peek on those electronics don't even bring them with you in the room. Not only does this show you're focused, it allows you to better evaluate the talent. Those 3 things are hygiene factors that you should already be doing, but my guess is many are not. If you are a senior leader at your company make these things non negotiable in your interview process and watch how the experience will change dramatically! Next week I'll share the next level of candidate experience and what you can do to really change the game! At REVVED TALENT we're committed to help Hiring Manager be massively more successful in the talent they hire. If you want to get the caliber of talent into your company that will drive results, disrupt the status quo, and deliver impact like you've never seen before, give me a call! TA folks what are some other simple candidate experience tips you'd provide hiring managers that virtually cost them nothing to implement?

Garbage Cans and Evaluating Talent = The key to assessing talent during the interview! If you are struggling to deliver stellar quality of hire it may be because you're not evaluating effectively, I can show you how to do it👇🏼 Paul Gustavson a leader in Talent Development shared a bullet proof way to evaluate talent in a simple, yet powerful way. The biggest flaw in the evaluation process is truely understanding what good looks like. What is the definition of good, and how can the team evaluating be aligned on the same definition. Here's a clip from a recent podcast with Kaylene F. and Emma (Corbett) McBrier, that provides a practical approach in how to evaluate effectively. Why are Hiring Managers losing great candidates? It's not a secret that candidates are evaluating companies and hiring managers just as much as they are being evaluated, so why are hiring managers missing out on attracting the best talent? 👇 Emma (Corbett) McBrier, Talent Acquisition Leader for Entrata and Kaylene F., Talent Acquisition Leader for Enveda Biosciences along with REVVED TALENT discuss the two big factors that play a huge role in winning the best talent to your company. 1 - Experience: Meaning candidate experience, what does yours look like? Are your hiring managers late to the interview? Does every person ask the candidate the exact same question? Do you provide time for the candidate to ask questions and get to know your company? Do you prepare the candidate for success in the interview and are you clear about the process and next steps? 2 - Evaluation: Is your evaluation strategy planned well in advance? Do you know what to assess for and how to assess? Is your team prepped with what they need to know what good looks like when they see it? Is feedback sent back in a timely manner that leads to quick decisions and fast action? Join us for a masterclass in Hiring Effectiveness. Here's a short clip from Kaylene and Emma, but if you'd like to change your approach to hiring and interviewing then you should definitely check out the full podcast here: https://lnkd.in/g5n4BeSd If it's time to take your interviewing to the next level reach out to Jeremy Christensen at REVVED TALENT, we can help you drive quality of hire in a simple and effective way!

What is the Cost of Vacancy costing you? Many times there is a misconception when someone leaves the company and you wait to backfill that person you are saving the company money. Here's why that thought process doesn't equate to saving money: 👉🏼 If the vacant role is revenue generating, how many tens of thousands or hundreds of thousands or more are you missing by this person not generating new revenue? 👉🏼 If the vacant role builds new products or services that your customers need, how much is that costing you? 👉🏼 When you leave a gap on the team and others have to pick up the slack for extended periods of time what does the lack of morale and burnout cost you? The list goes on, but you get the picture. With REVVED TALENT we can can accelerate your hiring exponentially with quality talent that will help you change the game. Don't wait any longer to bring the best talent on your team! Give me a call and lets get things moving for you!

Tuesday's with Intention: 7 months ago Nate Randle shared a post about his daughter returning home from her mission, he mentioned in a comment that I'd be at the airport before I knew it and he was absolutely right! My daughter Annabelle Christensen returned home this morning at 1:30am from serving the people of Brazil 🇧🇷 for the last 18 months! I couldn't be more excited to have her home, for a month before she heads back down to Brigham Young University. Fast forward a few hours today, we drove our next daughter Emmalee Christensen down to Utah State University Eastern to drop her off to go to school and play soccer and I couldn't be more proud of all her hard work and determination! Needless to say this day has been a roller coaster of emotion!! Nothing has been more meaningful to me than my family. The world might tell you other things are more important, but they're not. Nate Randle recently posted about his non-negotiable moments where he sits down with his family regularly to understand what is most important to them that they need him there for, and he ensures he there for it! I was really impressed that as an extremely busy CEO he has laser focus on his commitment to his family. If we build our lives by design vs. default even with a busy work schedule, and competing priorities, our lives can be filled with so much more joy as we prioritize what matters most!
