I was not planning to post on this AGAIN, but it needs to be said. I have thousands of job seekers in my network that read my stuff. I would hate for them to see themselves as "desperate" Job seekers. Friends.... The little green circle you have on your profile? 🟢 Keep using it. If you are qualified for what a role, and I see you are on the market! It is like I just walked into a candy store!!!! HAPPY DAYS! Sincerely, Every recruiter looking to fill their roles.
Thahnk you for sharing the message. ♻ Follow me for similar content. 🔔
Should it be used in every situation? No. Does it make you look desperate? No. I know not everyone has found success with using it but I have heard from many that they have seen an up tick in recruiter outreach, I for one, use it daily as a filter to see who matches my jobs and is on the market.
Have an incredible Thursday folks! Make it a good one.
Not enough people are using it. It also makes it hard for friends to help share jobs because it’s not clear you’re looking. I have a list, it’s outdated, so when recruiters reach out and I want to pass it along and it’s not for a role I’ve already been recommending for, I’ll go to my connections and look for the banner. No banner, I can’t help make connections.
USE THE BANNER and if you are NOT open to work, please take the banner off as well 😉!
Darrell Clack there is a case for LinkedIn to create new frames to add to #opentowork. Just like the Thumbs Up reaction has evolved to include #love #support #funny #insighful and #celebrate, #opentowork as a "one-size, fits-all" frame doesn't help people get attention and specific help. I think the stigma of using the frame is less of an issue than its ubiquity. The frame doesn't help people stand out.
That green banner is the most helpful thing ever! Outside of the submitted applications, I look on LinkedIn all the time for candidates. If someone matches what I'm looking for, the green banner is a lifesaver. I reach out right away.
The green banner is really effective. You may think that no one notices it. But in actual fact, people you know who really care for you will reach out and refer you to their network of friends. So, put up the green banner if you are actively looking for new opportunities. And remember to take it off when you are happily planted in your new job.
Thank you. I was on a networking call this week where the only recruiter in the group - a so-called "expert," but a job seeker herself - was telling a group of job seekers that there was no value in the green ring. I wanted to shake her for being so irresponsible.

12hDo you realize how much time we spend on outreach messaging and drip campaigns? A LOT. Qualified talent that have the green banner on are going to get connected with an opportunity quicker than if they did not. That is a hill I wil happily stand on.
