Pageant crowns new Miss South Carolina USA
NORTH CHARLESTON (WCSC) - A new Miss South Carolina USA and Miss South Carolina Teen USA was crowned at the North Charleston Performing Arts Center Saturday.
According the pageant's website, Leah Lawson beat out 38 others when she won the title of Miss South Carolina USA. She formerly held the title of Miss Mountain Lakes USA.
The crown and sash of Miss South Carolina Teen USA went to Marley Stokes, who represented South Carolina's Golden Corner. Stokes competed against 31 other teens for the title, according to the pageant's website.
Contestants began preliminary competitions Friday, with finals on Saturday. They competed in three categories -- an individual interview with judges, and a swimsuit and evening gown competition.
The pageant started at 7:30 both nights, with tickets starting at $41.
