Since 1985, our mission has been to provide rich and memorable experiences for the whole family. In our own studios in France, as well as in collaboration with outstanding partners like Pendulo Studios and Eden Games, we create and distribute video games for PC, consoles and smartphones. Over the course of our long history, we have created acclaimed original licenses, such as Syberia, Gear.Club, Corsairs and Still Life, for our audiences. We have also given players a chance to step into the shoes of their favorite heroes, with games based on well-known franchises like Asterix and Obelix, Fort Boyard, Garfield and Hercule Poirot. With diverse genres ranging from action-adventure to automobile sports and life simulation, the Microids catalog offers quality games for all kinds of players.
We are proud to bring a touch of magic to the daily lives of millions of people around the world, by creating experiences for all ages and tastes, whether you want to play solo adventures or share fun experiences with friends. We have had the chance to collaborate with legendary creators like Benoît Sokal, Paul Cuisset and Charles Cecil, as well as build relationships with publishers like Moulinsart and Agatha Christie Limited, in order to put together a vast collection of titles and heroes. Here are some of our players’ most-loved franchises:
Microids was created in April 1985, in the Paris region, by its current deputy CEO: Elliot Grassiano. The company rapidly gained popularity on the French market and around the world, with its PC games , like 500cc Grand Prix and Super Ski. It has gone from strength to strength ever since. Based on the success of 1990s best sellers like Amerzone and Corsairs, Microids got the opportunity to venture into publishing as well as game development. The company consolidated its global presence and recruited many talented individuals. Its takeover in 2009 by Anuman Interactive, a well-established software publisher, further expanded the range of possibilities open to Microids, including major licenses. Today, nearly 40 years on from its beginnings, Microids also has its own distribution organization, and records annual growth of more than 50%. Take a look back at this fascinating history through the following timeline:
→ Did you know that the name ‘Microids’ is a portmanteau of the words ‘microcomputing’ and ‘androids’?
From the outset, Microids had the ambition to grow beyond France, its country of origin. This has enabled us to reach far more players; so much so that more than 80% of our sales are now achieved globally. This has also given us opportunities to work on licenses such as Goldorak from Japan. Our global expansion has been made possible by the varied expertise of more than 500 people, based all over the world.
