Description

Oddada is a little music game based in a fantasy toy world. Take your train through different landscapes, machines and buildings to collect melodies and rhythms and create your own musical journey. To be more specific: in this roguelike music builder you go through 6 random levels to build different musical pieces such as bass lines, melodies and rhythms. In the final level you'll perform with the music blocks you have collected - then you can save your own song as a virtual cassette, sit back and listen to your cassette collection or move on to the next playthrough.

History

In early 2020, Sven created a wave system on a minimalistic tile-based landscape, where the tiles moved in a mesmerizing way and triggered the houses it passed by. Originally Sven didn't plan to make a music game - but the way the waves triggered the houses instantly reminded him of the piano roll interface that you can see in music production software. A few months later, after Mathilde joined the project, they started to grasp the full potential of Oddada for playful music creation. They received funding by the Medienboard Berlin Brandenburg games program and worked steadily on making the musical village of ODDADA come alive and tweaking the music experience to be more satisfying. From landscapes that move through waves to rhythmic drum machines and melodic ladybugs: the game has evolved to combine all sorts of musical loop and step-based mechanics to make music-creation fun and easy to explore for everyone.

Features

  • ODDADA is a music maker with endless freedom to play! Move your tune-train from level to level, crafting a musical track from a series of toy-like interactive instruments.
  • Build your track up layer by layer, adding new melodies and harmonies as you go. Once it's all done you can arrange and complete your song in the grand finale!
  • Levels and instruments are randomised, making each run a little different. Unlock new tools as you play and gradually expand your horizons!
  • Print your song onto a virtual cassette that you can customise, rearrange and export as audio files. Grow your cassette collection and share it with the world!
