Gran Turismo was created from the inspiration of the rich culture of automobiles that had grown throughout the 20th century.
Gran Turismo was designed to awaken people to the allure of cars. Even without any prior knowledge about cars, players would find appreciation and joy in controlling, owning, designing and tuning them.
Gran Turismo has come a long way, and with GT7 on PS5, players will experience a new level of realism supported by incredible graphics with ray tracing, 3D audio with 3rd order Ambisonics, immersive feedback and adaptive triggers on the DualSense controller, unprecedented speed and much more.

GT Academy started off as a simple question: Can you turn a good Gran Turismo driver into a real-life professional race car driver? Nissan and GT Academy held the first GT Academy in 2008, and since then have created more than a dozen professional race car drivers, defying both common sense and motorsports tradition.

The FIA Gran Turismo Championships, established in 2018, is a new motorsport event presented by Gran Turismo and the FIA (Fédération Internationale de l'Automobile).

The Vision Gran Turismo project started with a single question from Gran Turismo founder Kazunori Yamauchi: “Would you design your rendition of the ideal GT for us?” GT stands for Gran Turismo or Grand Tourer (where the game got its name from) which describes a sporty performance car. Many manufacturers accepted our offer, and now there are many “ideal” Grand Touring cars represented in the game.
Vision Gran Turismo, which began as a project to celebrate the game’s 15th anniversary, continues to bring together the automotive passions of the users and the car companies. The cars have been introduced one at a time throughout the Gran Turismo series, and the project will only increase in popularity as more players sample these unique machines. Learn more.

Gran Turismo Sophy (GT Sophy) is a revolutionary superhuman racing agent developed through the collaboration between Sony AI, Polyphony Digital (PDI), and Sony Interactive Entertainment (SIE). The agent was designed to compete against top Gran Turismo® Sport drivers and elevate their gaming experience.
The speed and performance of cars in Gran Turismo varies on the modifications added to each vehicle.
Gran Turismo is a PlayStation exclusive series. Gran Turismo 7 is available on PlayStation 4 and PlayStation 5.
Gran Turismo 7 is the newest of the series, launched on March 4 2022.
