Along in the Dark is one of the latest games from Pieces Interactive and THQ Nordic. It features David Harbour and Jodie Comer as it’s two main characters, while taking them to the horror setting of Derceto Manor. If you want to put yourself into their shoes, make sure to fact check your PC against the Alone in the Dark system requirements so you can find out if you can run the game.

Alone in the Dark system requirements on PC

You’re going to need to check up on the minimum and recommended system requirements. Generally, the performance in horror games is pretty well optimised and playable. This is largely thanks to the confined spaces and pre-rendered worlds. In light of that, we reckon that most PC gamers will have a good chance at hitting the requirements for Alone in the Dark. Here they are:

Alone in the Dark minimum system requirements

  • OS: Windows 10, 64 Bit
  • Processor: Ryzen 3 3100 / Core i3-8300
  • Memory: 8 GB RAM
  • Graphics: GeForce GTX 1050 Ti / Radeon RX 570
  • DirectX: Version 12
  • Storage: 50 GB available space
  • Additional Notes: SSD recommended

The minimum ask for the game is a GTX 1050 Ti or Radeon RX 570, both of which are fairly entry level graphics cards. It also only needs a Ryzen 3 3100 or Core i3-8300, which is equally low-bar. 8GB RAM is needed, and you will need to make 50GB of storage available.

Most modern gaming PCs will be able to handle this game at its lowest graphics, which is a refreshing sight really.

Alone in the Dark recommended system requirements

  • OS: Windows 10, 64 Bit
  • Processor: Ryzen 7 3700X / Core i5-12400
  • Memory: 16 GB RAM
  • Graphics: GeForce RTX 2060 / Radeon RX 5700 XT
  • DirectX: Version 12
  • Storage: 50 GB available space
  • Additional Notes: SSD recommended

The recommended requirements to play the game are a little bit more of a tough ask. It will need an RTX 2060 or RX 5700 XT, and a Ryzen 7 3700X / Core i5-12400 to play the game. It’s going to ask for at least 16GB of RAM, which is pretty much the standard within PC games nowadays.

Unfortunately, the Steam listing for the game doesn’t specify what kind of graphics fidelity these settings will be targeting, though it’s safe to assume that the minimum requirements will hit 1080p at 30FPS (anything below that on PC is virtually unplayable, by today’s standards) and that the recommended requirements will hit a slightly higher graphics level at 1440p and 30FPS in the remake of the original game.

That’s as much as we have on the system requirements for Alone in the Dark, which releases on PC, PS5 and Xbox Series X/S on March 20th. Ahead of its release, you might want to consider whether or not it’s going to be a multiplayer game too.

Does Alone in the Dark have DLSS/FSR?

Luckily, Alone in the Dark features DLSS and FSR, both of which are performance enhancing AI upscalers that will net you overall gains in FPS without tanking your game’s resolution. This is a must-have feature in modern AAA-games that suffer from huge optimisation issues.

Does Alone in the Dark have ray tracing?

Ray tracing is also a feature baked into Alone in the Dark, which is going to improve the graphical fidelity immensely. However, you’re going to need an RX or RTX graphics card in order to make use of ray tracing, and you’re also probably going to need a high-end one if you want good performance in the game too.
