Tom Tasselmyer

Chief Meteorologist

Tom reports on the latest weather conditions weeknights at 5 p.m., 6 p.m., and 11 p.m. on WBAL-TV, as well as at 10 p.m. on MeTV Baltimore. Tom's forecasts can also be heard during the evening on WBAL NewsRadio 1090AM and 101.5FM.

Tom started working in his hometown of Baltimore at WBAL-TV in 1989. Prior to coming to WBAL, he worked as a meteorologist in Cleveland, Ohio, on WEWS-TV, and in Bluefield, West Virginia, on WVVA-TV.

Tom graduated from North Carolina State University in 1984 with a Bachelor of Science degree in Meteorology.

Tom has a Seal of Approval for broadcast meteorology from the American Meteorological Society.

Tom and his wife, Laurie, raised their four sons in Baltimore County and now enjoy "parenting" their two Field Spaniels, Roger and Rhett.

In addition to meteorology, Tom has an interest in theology and he earned a Master of Arts degree in theology from the Ecumenical Institute at St. Mary’s Seminary and University in Baltimore. In 2018, Tom co-authored the book, "Understanding the Divide: A Presbyterian Elder, a Roman Catholic Theologian, and Basic Questions of the Christian Faith."

Tom has completed 12 marathons, including five Baltimore Marathons, and now enjoys running shorter distances. He also enjoys golf, fly-fishing, and reading.
