A Comic Book Showing Geralt's Fate After Events of Blood and Wine Coming Soon
Geralt will soon return in a series of comic books from American publisher Dark Horse. Importantly, the new stories about the monster slayer will be a direct continuation of the events presented in the Blood and Wine expansion for The Witcher 3.
As it turns out, the story of Geralt of Rivia doesn't end with the finale of the second expansion to The Wild Hunt. Apart from his potential appearance in The Witcher 4, the famous monster killer will return in a comic book from the American publishing house Dark Horse.
The continuation of the story of the Butcher of Blaviken will be titled The Witcher: Corvo Bianco and will encompass five parts - the first of which will be released on May 8 this year.
- The main authors of The Witcher: Corvo Bianco are: the legend of the Italian comic book, illustrator Corrado Mastantuono, and the creator of adventures in the world of The Witcher, Bartosz Sztybor (The Witcher: Fading Memories, The Witcher: Wild Animals).
- The colorist of the project is Matteo Vattani, while Hassan Otsmane-Elhaou is responsible for lettering.
- The team of artists is further complemented by Tonci Zonjic, Neyef and Jorge Molina, who are responsible for alternative cover variants.
The fact that the work in question will be an official part of the Witcher universe is further proven by the fact that the American publisher reached an agreement with the Polish company CD Projekt, which is the owner of The Witcherlicense in the field of video games, comics, etc.
Its back to work for Witcher, and this time - a western
As the name of the work in question suggests, its action will begin in the Toussaint region, specifically in the area of the Corvo Bianco vineyard, which is certainly well known to all fans of the Blood and Wine expansion for The Witcher 3. That's where Geralt was supposed to spend the rest of his life in peace, going into a well-deserved retirement.
However, as we read in the comic's announcement: "a swig of wine and a drop of blood have a great deal in common." In other words, the beloved white-haired protagonist will be forced to put his two legendary blades to work again.
As Bartosz Sztybor, one of the authors, argues, the story in Corvo Bianco is supposed to have the qualities of a western.
As a fan of pop culture and postmodern genre mixing, the above news sounded to me like a dream come true. A western in the world of The Witcher - there has never been anything like it before! My excitement was even bigger when I read again who is responsible for the comic. Corrado Mastantuono is a legend, one of the greatest comic book names of all time, the person who created the most important European works, including a true western classic - Tex. Mixing fantasy and western for him should come naturally and result in a mesmerizing experience. Geralt traversing the continent with a wild bunch of wizards, elves, and dwarves will create a perfect tribute to Andrzej Sapkowski, Clint Eastwood, and Sergio Leone.
The pre-order sale price of the comic book is $3.99. For more information about him, I refer you to the official online address of Dark Horse Publishing.
