Cyberpunk 2077 Sequel Team Grows and Hires Veterans
CD Projekt Red studio has shared new news about the sequel to Cyberpunk 2077. The team working on the Orion project has expanded to include several veterans.
Although there's still a long way to go before the release of the sequel to Cyberpunk 2077, CD Projekt Red is happy to share some information about the progress of work on the game. Today, a press release has been shared, revealing that a few "acknowledged experts" have joined the small team in charge of Project Orion, based in Boston.
- Dan Henberg will hold the position of executive producer. He previously worked on projects such as New World, Diablo III, and Apex Legends.
- Ryan Barnard, a former employee of Ubisoft Massive and IO Interactive studios, was appointed as the design director.
- Alan Vilani, whose portfolio includes games from the Mortal Kombat series, will be director of engineering.
- Anna Megill, who worked on the storyline for games like Control, Dishonored: Death of the Outsider, and Assassin's Creed: Syndicate, will be the lead writer.
- Alexander Freed will also strengthen the writing team behind the Project Orion story. Before, he held the position of the lead writer at BioWare (working, among other things, on Star Wars: The Old Republic).
The mention of these names raises hopes that Project Orion will have an equally high-level plot as Cyberpunk 2077. The team from Warsaw continues to take great pride in the highly positive Steam reviews of their latest game. The positive opinions are mainly attributed to the numerous updates, including the recent "major" one labeled 2.0. Even today, the director of community at CD Projekt Red studio, Marcin Momot, brought to mind the remarkable journey that Cyberpunk has gone through since its disappointing release in 2020. Currently, the game on Steam has an 82% positive review rate (out of over 700,000), with over 9,000 users of this platform having given their opinion in the last 30 days, of whom 93% recommend it.
Pawel Sasko, Igor Sarzynski, and Gabriel Amatangelo are also responsible for the development of the Orion project, having worked on the first installment. CD Projekt Red has reminded that the sequel is in the early stages of development and is still seeking employees for various positions in its Boston and Vancouver branches.
