Pokemon GO Devs Announced New 'Monstrous' Game

The developers of Pokemon GO have formed an interesting partnership. The fruit of the cooperation will be a new geolocation game. Beta-testing will start soon.

Driven by the enourmous success of Pokemon GO studio Niantic has begun a partnership with Capcom. The result of the cooperation will be a venture to bring the Monster Hunter brand, which is experiencing its golden age, to augmented reality. Monster Hunter Now will enable the players to hunt monsters in their neighborhoods using a smartphone.

Monster Hunter Now - gameplay

The gameplay is to be based on the formula known from the major installments of Monster Hunter. Thus, the task of the players will be - in addition to fighting various types of creatures - acquiring materials and using them to improve weapons and armor. Although the combat system will be simplified, the developers ensure that fans will still experience intense duels with beasts.

Interestingly, if we come across a monster while walking, and we don't happen to have time to, colloquially speaking, kick its ass, we will be able to mark the creature and place it on the map to confront it at a convenient time.

Below you can see a short trailer of the game shared on Niantic's official YouTube channel.

Monster Hunter Now - release and beta testing

According to the information provided by Niantic (via Eurogamer) The beta will launch on April 25, and the full version will be released in September on Android and iOS platforms.. In order to take part in the tests, you need to register on the game's official website.

Monster Hunter is an extremely popular RPG brand. As of the end of 2022, total sales of Capcom's series exceeded 90 million copies. A significant contribution to these impressive results was made by Monster Hunter: Rise, which debuted on Switch in 2021, and then made its way to PC, PS4, PS5, XOne and XSX/S.
