Red Dead Redemption Now With 60 Fps Mode on PS5

Red Dead Redemption can finally be played at 60 frames per second. The catch is that it's only on the PS5 - at least for now.

Quite unexpectedly, Rockstar Games has released update 1.03 for Red Dead Redemption on PS4. It makes it possible to run the game in backward compatibility on PlayStation 5, while enjoying 60 frames per second. Previously, it was only 30 fps.

The patch "weighs" several hundred MB. Interestingly, however, the version of the game available on Xbox did not receive it. It's hard to say why - perhaps the reason lies in the fact that only the version of the game originally released on X360 is available as part of backward compatibility on XOne and XSX/S. Nevertheless, it allows for the game to be played at 4K resolution on Microsoft's latest consoles, so this shouldn't be a problem. It is possible that Xbox owners will also soon play the first RDR in 60 frames per second.

After downloading the patch, in the game's options you should choose which mode you want it to run in - 30 or 60 fps.

For obvious reasons, this update has overjoyed the community. However, it also brought another batch of repeated questions and requests for a similar patch for the console version of Red Dead Redemption 2, running at 30 frames per second. While one may have a shadow of hope that Rockstar Games will follow through, it seems very doubtful - sooner we'll get a remaster, for which we'll have to pay. A lot.
