Stronghold Remaster Demo Now on Steam, but It's Bugged
We can try out the full-fledged remaster of the iconic Stronghold thanks to a free demo and a trailer discussing the game's new elements. Firefly Studio's action, however, seems to be turning against the developers.
In anticipation of a full-fledged remaster of the iconic Stronghold, members of FireFly Studios decided to let us in on the secret with a demo and a new trailer for the game. The response from the community, however, did not turn out to be entirely positive.
Free demo and first technical issues
Real-time strategy game Stronghold, originally released in 2001, has remained relevant in the eyes of many players until now and needs no improvements. The developers of its upcoming remaster - titled Stronghold: Definitive Edition - however, have decided to preemptively win over fans of the brand.
Starting today on Steam a demo version of this remaster is available to download, meaning to provide a foretaste of the game ahead of its release, scheduled for November 7.
In the comments on the game's sub-page on Valve's platform, there were quite a few positive reviews of the demo. However, it is worth mentioning that some players are complaining about bugs appearing in it and even problems with launching it.
Representatives of FireFly Studios have already commented already on this issue:
"Hi all,
We are aware that some people have been experiencing issues with the Stronghold: Definitive Edition demo crashing on startup. Unfortunately, we've found a problem with some middleware we're using that is the cause of the issue. The good news is that the problem is identified, we are working with them to resolve the problem, and we'll post again once we release a fix for this issue.
Apologies to all those affected.
Thanks for your patience."
The bugs in the demo are not a good sign for the full version. However, we can count on them to help avoid a similar situation on the release day.
Details presented in an additional trailer
Along with the demo version, the official YouTube channel of FireFly Studios posted new material regarding Stronghold: Definitive Edition.
The video is 6 minutes long and outlines the final image of the upcoming remaster. Therefore, the video is an an in-depth presentation of all the new aspects of the game, differentiating it from the original.
