The Planet Crafter - Console (Xbox, PS5, PS4, Switch) Release
If The Planet Crafter caught your eye but you would rather enjoy it on your console, whether that is Xbox, PS4, PS5 or Switch, there might be a spark of hope. Here you will learn all that we know about the console port of this game thus far.
As No Man’s Sky gives us a chance to travel through space and discover planets, it is a bit lacking when it comes to accommodating them to your needs. Hence comes The Planet Crafter, which does exactly the opposite – it focuses on making the newly found, dire world habitable for human beings. The game was maturing in Early Access on Steam for 2 years to be eventually released in 1.0 version. Since the title was so enthusiastically received by fans, it begs the question if it will make its way to consoles like PlayStation, Xbox, or Switch for more people to enjoy. Let’s see what the developers have to say about it.
The Planet Crafter Console (PlayStation, Xbox, Switch) release explained
“In space no one can hear you scream” – that’s what the creators of the Alien movie from 1979 want us to believe, yet The Planet Crafter makes the space much more welcoming to humans. At least this is the main goal of the game. With version 1.0, it puts a great focus on working together with others. As many players got hooked into this title, a lot of them wonder if it will arrive on consoles like PlayStation, Xbox, or Switch.
This question was already answered by the developers a few years ago in a Steam Community thread where they tackled a roadmap for the game. When the post was written, they informed about their willingness to create console ports, yet they have made this decision dependent on whether the production is successful enough on release, giving no guarantees.
Even back then, when The Planet Crafter was still in Early Access, it was receiving Overwhelmingly Positive feedback from players and this trend continues to this day. This allows us to speculate that it is very likely to see the consoles port in the future, yet there is no concrete information on the potential date, so far.
The game has grown very dynamically providing a lot of additional content along the way. We’ve seen several major updates throughout the years like for example Procedural Wrecks, Space Trading or Fish and Drones. Let’s hope that despite such hard work on new items and activities, the devs will find time to work on console ports soon enough.
