UE5 is Coming to DBD, Today's 7.7.0 Patch Will Be Bigger Than Others

Patch 7.7.0 to Dead by Daylight will be released today. This update introduces a number of significant changes Including Twins buff and perk changes. It offers also one additional major improvement. From this guide you will learn if the game works on Unreal Engine 5.

Is DBD on Unreal Engine 5?

Not yet. The live version of DBD is currently working on the older version of engine. Currently, UE5 can only be tested on the PTB. However, this will change today (23.04) at 11 AM EST. At this time, update 7.7.0 will be publicly available. It will upgrade the game to Unreal Engine 5. While it is difficult to find any official statement, it seems that one of developers on official Discord confirmed this upgrade (via Reddit).

This update will be noticeable bigger, so you will have to prepare more disk space. If you play on PC, PlayStation 4, PS5, Xbox One or Xbox Series X/S, the patch will take 30 GB. On Nintendo Switch, on the other hand, it will be 10 GB.

Biggest changes in DBD 7.7.0

Graphics improvements are not the only changes that will come to the game with the 7.7.0 update. The list of other new features looks as follows:

  1. Better Blight collision. The effects of 3 add-ons have also been modified.
  2. Twins improvements. Switching time between Charlotte and Victor has been reduced. The hitboxes have also been adjusted.
  3. Changes to three perks – Ultimate Weapon, Adrenaline and Decisive Strike.
  4. Haddonfield rework. Map will be smaller and buildings that couldn’t be entered have been removed. Some loops have received a nerf.
