Copyright Tags
[edit]Hi. Could you add copyright tags to the images you uploaded? For now I have tagged your image as "Unknown". If there are no tags, the image may have to be deleted. Thanks -- Chris 73 03:43, 7 Dec 2004 (UTC)
- Hallo, kannst Du bitte - bevor Du weitere Bilder hochlädst - erstmal bei allen Bildern die Lizenzen nachtragen? Danke --:Bdk: 03:35, 8 Dez 2004 (UTC)
--:Bdk: 03:53, 8 Dez 2004 (UTC)
- also mit Englisch komm ich schon klar. Weißt Du, wie ich Links auf Englische Seiten setze? Thomas7 03:55, 8 Dec 2004 (UTC)
--:Bdk: 04:10, 8 Dez 2004 (UTC)
- also mit Englisch komm ich schon klar. Weißt Du, wie ich Links auf Englische Seiten setze? Thomas7 03:55, 8 Dec 2004 (UTC)
--:Bdk: 05:33, 8 Dez 2004 (UTC)
Hallo. Ist die alte Amalie PD? Ich habs einfach mal dazugeschrieben, genauso fuer das Image:Brandenburger-Tor-1735-Daniel-Chodowiecki-1764.jpg -- Chris 73 05:51, 8 Dec 2004 (UTC)
This image is used on Thomas7's French user page (fr:Utilisateur:Thomas7). This user uploaded it on Commons without mentioning its source. The problem is that the picture has been edited and is not a genuine reproduction : one could see an Nazi eagle and a svatiska twice on it on transparency, at the top of the picture (right and left). villy 18:46, 22 Mar 2005 (UTC)
- That is not the truth. Look for the history of this image. The user Thomas7f (not myself Thomas7 without f) is abusing my Userid and is uploading nazi-images to bring down my reputation. In the german wikipedia and as a queer I had conflicts with right wing Studentenverbindungen. This kind of mobbing is typical for their behaviour. The picture of the famous painter Adolph Menzel was imprinted with nazi-emblems in watermarks by this mobber. Menzel died in 1905, his pictures could be seen in international galeries and are public domain. The picture was painted in 1837 by Eduard Magnus and is in the public domain too. My original computer image was without this watermark falsifications. I have reloaded the original file. The mobber try to camouflage false identity by bringing citations of my discussion texts on his discussion page. Thomas7 (in the french and english wikipedia without f) 00:00, 24 Mar 2005 (UTC)
Hast Du für die Abbildung eine Quellen-, Orts- und Zeitangabe? Würde mich sehr interessieren. Wäre nett, wenn Du es nachtragen könntest. 82.83.54.221 22:54, 27 Apr 2005 (UTC)
- Please be aware, that we had problems with Ullstein in the past, because we used a Hitler-picture which was wrongly labeled as PD, but belongs to Ullstein-Bild. So we should use pictures especially if they have Ullstein as source carefully and put informations on the description page that proves the license is correct. --Avatar 10:45, 2 Jun 2005 (UTC)

This picture is of no interest for commons. It is only used in fr:Discussion Utilisateur:Thomas7 - so please re-upload it in fr if you need it (and put license information in it). I will delete it in a few days. --Avatar 10:49, 2 Jun 2005 (UTC)
Image deletion warning | Image:Vor-Elian.gif has been listed at Commons:Deletion requests so that the community can discuss whether it should be kept or not. We would appreciate it if you could go to voice your opinion about this at its entry. If you created this image, please note that the fact that it has been proposed for deletion does not necessarily mean that we do not value your kind contribution. It simply means that one person believes that there is some specific problem with it, such as a copyright issue. If the file is up for deletion because it has been superseded by a superior derivative of your work, consider the notion that although the file may be deleted, your hard work (which we all greatly appreciate) lives on in the new file. |

- This images was of special interest for the whole wikipedia community. It shows, how the german user Elian frauded elections. Thomas7 21:32, 13 May 2007 (UTC)
You claim that this is a photo from the 1920s and that is is public domain. Do you have a source? Who was the photographer? What year was the photo taken? When did the photographer die? Thuresson 00:56, 22 September 2005 (UTC)
- same with Image:Josef-von-Sternberg-Marlene-Dietrich-Erich-Maria-Remarque.jpg. --Svencb 22:58, 7 January 2006 (UTC)
- I changed that.--Thomas7
Image Tagging Image:KlausMannAls12Jaehriger.jpg
[edit]
Thanks for uploading Image:KlausMannAls12Jaehriger.jpg. I notice the image page currently doesn't specify who created the content, so the copyright status is unclear. If you have not created this media yourself then you need to argue that we have the right to use the media on Wikimedia Commons (see copyright tagging below). If you have not created the media yourself then you should also specify where you found it, i.e., in most cases link to the website where you got it, and the terms of use for content from that page. If the content is a derivative of a copyrighted work, you need to supply the names and a licence of the original authors as well.
If the media also doesn't have a copyright tag, then you must also add one. If you created/took the picture, audio, or video then you can use cc-by-sa-2.5 to release it under the Creative Commons Attribution-ShareAlike license or PD-self to release it into the public domain. See Commons:Copyright tags for the full list of copyright tags that you can use.
Note that any unsourced and untagged images will be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have uploaded other media, please check that you have specified their source and copyright tagged them, too. You can find all your uploads using the Gallery tool. Thank you. [edit]Tip: Categorizing images
[edit]
Thanks a lot for contributing to the Wikimedia Commons! Here's a tip to make your uploads more useful: Why not add some categories to describe them? This will help more people to find and use them.
Here's how:
1) If you're using the UploadWizard, you can add categories to each file when you describe it. Just click "more options" for the file and add the categories which make sense:
2) You can also pick the file from your list of uploads, edit the file description page, and manually add the category code at the end of the page.

For example, if you are uploading a diagram showing the orbits of comets, you add the following code:

This will make the diagram show up in the categories "Astronomical diagrams" and "Comets".
When picking categories, try to choose a specific category ("Astronomical diagrams") over a generic one ("Illustrations").
Thanks again for your uploads! More information about categorization can be found in Commons:Categories, and don't hesitate to leave a note on the help desk.CategorizationBot (talk) 11:39, 9 July 2011 (UTC)

Your account will be renamed
[edit]Hello,
The developer team at Wikimedia is making some changes to how accounts work, as part of our on-going efforts to provide new and better tools for our users like cross-wiki notifications. These changes will mean you have the same account name everywhere. This will let us give you new features that will help you edit and discuss better, and allow more flexible user permissions for tools. One of the side-effects of this is that user accounts will now have to be unique across all 900 Wikimedia wikis. See the announcement for more information.
Unfortunately, your account clashes with another account also called Thomas7. To make sure that both of you can use all Wikimedia projects in future, we have reserved the name Thomas7~commonswiki that only you will have. If you like it, you don't have to do anything. If you do not like it, you can pick out a different name.
Your account will still work as before, and you will be credited for all your edits made so far, but you will have to use the new account name when you log in.
Sorry for the inconvenience.
Yours,
Keegan Peterzell
Community Liaison, Wikimedia Foundation
