Banes

[edit]

Hi there Seadog :)

No, Banes never said on Wiki that he was going into retirement, which is why, I guess, there's a bit of confusion. I'm afraid I'm not really sure of the actually final reasons of why Banes left. I know he was becoming more and more busy, and he didn't have as much access to a computer as he would like. He did say that it wasn't anything serious or any bitter feelings that made him leave, which is good. He also wanted me to make it known that his departure is not his taking a stand against the cabal or anything like that. I guess that sometimes, people just have to move on for awhile :( However, he did hint that he will be back sometime.....

Hope this answers your question, and if I can be of anymore help, then just tell me :)

Well, here it is. Since you are a vegetarian, well, er...this has nothing to do with a Thanksgiving dinner, I guess you can pretend this is Tofurkey. I couldn't find an image of it, so I found something similar to it! The point is, Have a Happy (Vegetarian) Thanksgiving! ¡Cheers, amigo!

Vandalising Pakistan? I think not

[edit]

Hi Seadog MS

I just got the note below from you.

Thank you for experimenting with the page Pakistan on Wikipedia. Your test worked, and it has been reverted or removed. Please use the sandbox for any other tests you may want to do. Take a look at the welcome page to learn more about contributing to our encyclopedia. -- Lost(talk) 15:51, 10 November 2006 (UTC)[reply]

I've never visited the Pakistan page. The only edit I've made was a correction to the Blackcurrant Tango section of the Tango page. I don't know how these got confused.

I'm a great believer in Wikipedia's potential, but it's frustrating if the technology isn't working.

I'll register as that will probably remove any doubts as to my authenticity for future corrections.

Sorry if I incorrectly warned you...I do make mistakes every once and a while. Sorry if I offended you or caused any trouble.___Seadog 16:11, 24 November 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Thnaks for the message!

I removed the play stub template you added to this article. With all due respect, what more possibly could be added to it? SFTVLGUY2 17:30, 24 November 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Self-explanatory. Keep up the good work.Bakaman Bakatalk 23:20, 24 November 2006 (UTC)[reply]

You definitely deserve it. Sadly I havent been too active on Hinduism pages lately. In fact, I've come under fire for tirelessly defending Hinduism-related articles and the like. Perhaps you could help out on build a consensus on the linked proposal and also on this finding of factBakaman Bakatalk 23:31, 24 November 2006 (UTC)[reply]
Actually there is something you can do. They're trying to build consensus (the Indian admins arent on yet so its mostly other users) on the proposed decision so your input will be welcomed there and anywhere on the page. Also, I'm working to compile a list of users who I've edited constructively with on the Findings of fact section. That section will probably be on how my contrib history changed after september (I had a really rough history on wikipedia, especially my first month).Bakaman Bakatalk 23:40, 24 November 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks!!!! Once again, I would help... But I don't know anything about it! I really enjoyed the humour in it! Ihave no doubt that your works will reach FA status! Once again, thanks! Well, I must temporarily (I hope) leave you, now, with the most sincere: "cheers, mate!" :)Rand fan!!03:34, 25 November 2006 (UTC) Should I iclude that "Well, I must..." junk in here?[reply]

No! I'm goin' nowhere! I thought that might be a good closing for my edits (when using my sig.). But evidently I shouldn't use it, if it's going to be misinterrpretated!  :) This is it now:Well, cheers, mate! So, I'm goin' nowhere! By the way, is Llama Man on? He normally answers comments on his talk page immediately, but he isn't... Does he think they don't need answering or isn't he on? Of course, I'm not expecting you to know this for sure, but you guys have been friends for awhile and I thought you may know. Well, cheers, mate! :)Rand fan!!03:40, 25 November 2006 (UTC)[reply]

It says his last edit was an hour 15 minutes ago... Maybe he's doing a really, really big edit or is offline... Well, cheers, mate! :)Rand fan!!03:49, 25 November 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Re: vandal block

[edit]

You're welcome. However, I've seen worse vandalism. I remember once, before I became an admin, somebody's vandalism crashed my whole computer. :) -→Buchanan-Hermit/?! 04:11, 25 November 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Well, basically, the guy copy and pasted an image about 1000 times on my userpage. Unfortunately, that was my browser's homepage, so it crashed the first time, then every time after that when I tried to open my browser. I had to wait for an admin to revert it for me. It sucked, but the guy got a heavy block afterwards. -→Buchanan-Hermit/?! 04:15, 25 November 2006 (UTC)[reply]
Hehe, yeah, I've had a lot of compliments for my userpage. I've been thinking about scrapping it in favor of a new one for a while (with a different color scheme) but due to the comments lately, I'm re-considering it. -→Buchanan-Hermit/?! 04:21, 25 November 2006 (UTC)[reply]
Well, a congrats in advance for you. :) And yeah, vandalism's a bit slower tonight, but last night... phew... it was completely rampant. But if you want to revert vandalism, it's a good idea to keep an eye on User:AntiVandalBot's contribs list. That's what I do when I need something to do. And as for the userpage color scheme, I was thinking of sticking to the current colors (modelled after the Anaheim Ducks, my favorite hockey team), but add orange to the mix as a primary color. Not sure how well that'd work though; I've never experimented with that. -→Buchanan-Hermit/?! 04:28, 25 November 2006 (UTC)[reply]
Actually, User:Tawker (the main guy who runs and created the anti-vandalism bots) tried that once, at the RfA page. It was quite controversial and lengthy, but ultimately failed. Personally, I would've loved to see that, but people seem to be afraid of what an admin bot could do. I'm not worried though, since Tawker seems to know what he's doing most of the time. -→Buchanan-Hermit/?! 04:33, 25 November 2006 (UTC)[reply]
I'm sure it won't go on a deleting spree; I'd be concerned about blocking sprees. -→Buchanan-Hermit/?! 04:38, 25 November 2006 (UTC)[reply]
Well, Jimbo would be fine since he has admin powers (the proposed admin anti-vandalbot would "whitelist" admins). It's the non-admins I'm worried about. I'd hate to see some innocent user blocked for no reason if the bot malfunctions. -→Buchanan-Hermit/?! 04:41, 25 November 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Well, you're on the right track. I'm sure you can do it; when your RfA comes up, be sure to give me a heads-up. :) -→Buchanan-Hermit/?! 04:47, 25 November 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Alright, I've added myself. A high editcount is good (it shows dedication), but I think what ultimately determines an RfA is whether you can keep at it in the long run... That's just my opinion. And thanks for the compliment, I try to be friendly (unless I'm dealing with a vandal -- then things get ugly, hehe). Are admins not usually nice? Hehe. -→Buchanan-Hermit/?! 04:54, 25 November 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Well, do try to meet more. They might be able to help groom you as an admin, which would help your RfA. -→Buchanan-Hermit/?! 04:58, 25 November 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Good to hear it. I certainly think you're doing the right things so far. Anyways, I'm going to work on some other things right now. Do keep in touch. :) -→Buchanan-Hermit/?! 05:03, 25 November 2006 (UTC)[reply]
