Notability of Jonny Marks
[edit]A tag has been placed on Jonny Marks requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done because the article, which appears to be about a real person, organization (band, club, company, etc.), or web content, does not indicate how or why the subject is notable: that is, why an article about that subject should be included in an encyclopedia. Under the criteria for speedy deletion, articles that do not indicate the subject's importance or significance may be deleted at any time. Please see the guidelines for what is generally accepted as notable. If this is the first page that you have created, then you should read the guide to writing your first article.
If you think that you can assert the notability of the subject, you may contest the deletion by adding {{hangon}}
to the top of the article (just below the existing speedy deletion or "db" tag), coupled with adding a note on the article's talk page explaining your position, but be aware that once tagged for speedy deletion, if the article meets the criterion it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but don't hesitate to add information to the article that would confirm the subject's notability under Wikipedia guidelines.
For guidelines on specific types of articles, you may want to check out our criteria for biographies, for web sites, for bands, or for companies. Feel free to leave a note on my talk page if you have any questions about this. Eeekster (talk) 02:36, 2 January 2009 (UTC)

[edit]Hi. I am adding this talk for future reference. The page was deleted because it failed to establish significance. Than you. --Efe (talk) 08:03, 2 January 2009 (UTC)
"This is a challenge to the tentative decision to speedily delete this page. Jonny Marks is referred to elsewhere in Wikipedia, in the article on the Worzel Down Under TV series, in which he was an actor (see http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Worzel_Gummidge). This means there is currently an unresolved link on that page. Your advice would be appreciated on how I should proceed. Put a link on the Jonny Marks page back to the Worzel article? And include details on his acting experience on this page. Yours, in bewilderment. DavidPaul2 (talk) 02:50, 2 January 2009 (UTC)
- Hi, A wikipedia entry must document the importance or significance of the subject from reliable sources. That's known as notability. It's not good enough that this singer/actor is the credits of a television show. What makes his singing or acting important? Has he won awards, does he have gold records? Can mainstream news sources where his accomplishments are reported be found? Etc. That's what people are looking for. (Even a Yank like me knows who Jon Pertwee was. He played Dr. Who. Cheers!) I spent over an hour trying to fix your broken links, and all the thanks I get is snide comments. I won't bother again. DavidPaul2 (talk)
