The Iron Gang (Mandarin: éććžź) was a criminal organization that engaged in war against the Ten Rings. After the attack on Ying Li, Xu Wenwu took it upon himself and his organization to destroy the Iron Gang.
History[]
War with the Ten Rings[]
The Iron Gang was involved in a long-lasting war against the Ten Rings, as the gang operated their weapon business on the Ten Rings' territory without permission. As the Ten Rings successfully dismantled the organization and eliminated most of its members, they managed to capture the leader of the gang. The leader was brought to the Ten Rings Headquarters for execution, but Wenwu ordered to let him go, knowing that he would not be able to live with all the losses he had suffered.[2]
Seeking revenge, the new leader of the Iron Gang led several subordinates into the Ten Rings Headquarters. They didn't find Wenwu there, however, they encountered his wife Ying Li, as well as his children, Shang-Chi and Xu Xialing. Ying Li told them that her husband had abandoned his leadership of the Ten Rings, however, the leader demanded a retribution regardless, although he let her children go. After Shang-Chi and Xialing left, the Iron Gang attacked Ying Li and although she managed to take down a lot of members during the fight, the Iron Gang killed her.[3]
Xu Wenwu's Revenge[]
Blinded by rage and grief, Xu Wenwu returned as the leader of the Ten Rings to destroy the Iron Gang to avenge his wife. Together with Shang-Chi, Wenwu traveled to a mahjong parlor owned by the Iron Gang. He mercilessly massacred most of the members inside, using his ten rings. Wenwu demanded the last surviving member to tell them where to find their leader, however, he did not know. Wenwu then killed him and ordered his subordinates to search everywhere to find him.
Years later, the Ten Rings managed to track down the leader to the United States, and Wenwu tasked Shang-Chi, now a teenager, with a mission to kill him, avenging his mother. Shang-Chi successfully assassinated the leader, although he decided not to return to his father.[3]
