Continuity[]
The book features major differences with the film that is based on. In the book, Tony Stark tests the Mark III suit in the desert, instead of the Battle of Gulmira. His origin story is also notably different since his kidnapping is not shown nor mentioned, he just creates the armor wanting to protect people. In addition to this difference, Stark defeats Obadiah Stane on his own, without the assistance of Pepper Potts. Both Potts and Jim Rhodes know Stark's identity from the start and keep it a secret. In the end, Stark's identity is not revealed. As the content from the book does not align with the continuity of the Marvel Cinematic Universe, it is categorized as non-canon.
