Synopsis[]

The Asgardian warrior continues his big-screen adventures in Thor: The Dark World as he battles to save Earth and all Nine Realms from a shadowy enemy that predates the universe itself. In the aftermath of Marvel's Thor and Marvel's The Avengers, Thor fights to restore order across the cosmos...but an ancient race led by the vengeful Malekith returns to plunge the universe back into darkness. Faced with an enemy that even Odin and Asgard cannot withstand, the God of Thunder must embark on his most perilous and personal journey yet, one that will reunite him with Jane Foster and force him to sacrifice everything to save us all.

Continuity[]

The book presents information that no longer lines up with the continuity of the Marvel Cinematic Universe. The book says that Mjølnir is "unable to be lifted by any mortal or Super-Hero from any realm" as the hammer was created for Thor and Thor alone. However, the subsequent release of Avengers: Age of Ultron, Thor: Ragnarok and Avengers: Endgame contradict this. While Ragnarok establishes that Mjølnir was used by Hela during the Subjugation of the Nine Realms, both Age of Ultron and Endgame establish that anyone who is deemed worthy by Mjølnir can use it (something said by Odin in Thor), as Steve Rogers wields it during the Battle of Earth. The book also says that Dark Elves need their mask to breathe on Svartalfheim but Malekith is shown to be able to breathe without it in Thor: The Dark World. Furthermore, the exhibition Thor: Treasures of Asgard at Disneyland states that the Dark Elves use their mask to protect themselves "from the poisonous effects of the universe" not their on homeworld.^[2] Therefore, per our canon policy, this book is deemed as non-canon material.
