The fourth segment of Robot Carnival, titled 'Presence' was created by the character designer of Megazone 23 II, Umetsu Yasuomi.
The 20minute segment has similar drawing/animation style and shows the same insane attention to detail (clothes, objects on the scene etc) that is characteristic of Megazone 23 Part II.

8 of Japan's leading animators were asked to create a short segment that followed the theme of Robots, for their inclusion in this film. Essentially, this movie is 9 short films, all independent of one another. The common element is human interaction with robots, namely the consequences of creating life with one's own hands, played in nine very different ways.

An amazing anthology loosely themed around robots whose weakest part still lands a “technically impressive”. It also hits a wide range of genres across all of its shorts, so there’s a good chance that even if you’re a tough sell, there’s at least one that will appeal to you.

Best way to describe this movie would be in my opinion Japan's answer to Fantasia. Using the robot
theme to give unity to this film we are presented with a visually rich compilation of shorts that play with the idea of the robot from several points of view, from heroic to malevolent, young and old,
machine and sentient AI a truly entertaining piece, but more than that a jewel in animation history.

For those who watched anime before Toonami. Sci Fi channels Saturday Anime time slot showing some anime like Project Ako, Lilly CAT, Vampire Hunter D (85), Eye Of Mars, Green Legend Ran, Tank Police, Venus Wars and many others. This movie showed some of the best artist at the time. To tell you the truth it was short....too short. If the some of the short movies were a bit longer....it would have showed great potential. Stick with what you like this movie will only disappoint those who watched Toonami and claim it was the first.

Lots of short stories about mechs. Not verbal, completely visual. Kinda boring. Only a few of the stories really moved me. I didn't get most of it.
