Natsume has been busy, navigating between humans and Yokai when he coincidentally reunites with an old classmate, Yuki. The reunion brings back painful memories of a certain Yokai. Meanwhile, Natsume also becomes acquainted with Tsumura Yorie, a woman in the memories of a Yokai whose name Natsume had returned. Yorie knows much about Reiko, and now lives a peaceful life with her only son, Mukuo. Interacting with this family is comforting for Natsume, but a mysterious Yokai has been lurking in their town.
On the way back from investigating, a "Yokai seed" that had latched itself to Nyanko-Sensei drops into the Fujiwara Family's garden and grows overnight into a fruit tree. When Nyanko-Sensei eats a fruit that is somewhat shaped like himself, he suddenly splits into three!

This is like Natsume was in the beginning (and why it became popular). The series was ruined by introducing bad guys that want to be king of everyone else. This is like the good old days. Watch it if you liked the earlier ones. Avoid it if you prefer all this 'evil group who want to rule over everyone else' stuff. That stuff is too much like the real world you humans have created for my taste.

I do not see a continuation(sequel) of the main story here. It's just a filler, albeit one that fully justifies the quality of the entire anime about Natsume. It is more correct to indicate it as "other", not as a "sequel".
Otherwise, it is quite a normal movie, like any episode of the main series, about helping someone who is in some problems.

A heartwarming movie as expected of the series. It seems to be one big story of at least three short stories which are interconnected.
I really love the topic of "memories" which you get through the whole series and in this movie as well. Fans of Chibi-Natsume and chibis at all will be overjoyed for the treat they get. Also we get to know another very loveable yokai.
Now I'm hoping for a continuation in any form again!

This story felt like one episode of a Natsume series. To be frank I was slightly disappointed, not because it was bad in any way, it was a good 10/10, still I have enjoyed Natsume so much, that my expectations are just too high.
Story - he helps out Nyanko sensei and a new and interesting person who knew his grandmother and an interesting and caring new ayakashi.
When it ended I was just wishing they would start a new full series, or atleast the Mushishi series.
It was the usual Natsume heartfelt fun, so just go and see it.

I was worried a longer story arc wouldn’t quite work, but the movie pulled it off really well, making it an enjoyable and family-friendly experience with its usual soothing and poignant atmosphere, even for people unfamiliar with the anime/manga.
