Kind of a (over 10 years late in release) epilogue of the Macross Frontier movies. Short, cute and touching, prelude to something? or finishing the Frontier story once and for all? I wish they continued this line of thought (in unison to what was shown in Delta: Zettai Live might be an interesting premise to follow up).
If you loved Macross Frontier (regardless if you prefer the series or the movies), you'll like how they managed this one, the only thing I kind of dislike is the usage of CG animation, they made a very good job with the movies...
