Taishou Yakyuu Musume or Taisho Era Baseball Girls is story about girls who want to play baseball and do it well.
Animation: 7/10
Animation isn't the strongest point of this anime. The background is simple, sometimes even too generic. The colous are pastel, drawing is minimal. However, character models are varied, if not extremely distinctive, because i could separate 9 similar age girls in uniforms.
Sound: 9/10
I didn't find OP to be catchy, but ED Yume Miru Kokoro by Itou Kanae is nice. Music creates the atmosphere of slow, calm and uneventful life, when fresh air was bigest joy for kids. On other hand, Seiyuu were geat. Noto Mamiko, Arai Satomi, Ueda Kana and Kaida Yuuko did good job in Toaru Majutsu no Index/Railgun franchise. So the voices were pleasure to my ear.
Story: 7/10
When i strated to watch Taishou Yakyuu Musume, i was looking for good story. The begining was promising: there were girls with the goal and a long way to go in order to change the viewpoint to them. The parents and the school didn't like the idea of girls playing baseball. I saw many conflicts: parents- chlidren disagreements, unrequited lesbian love, sex discrimination and few others. In the middle i saw a bunch of fillers and then comes the cheese.
Characters: 7/10
There are lots of characters if you were to account for all people from school and restaurant. Very few of them, however, are full fledged. Even some guys from your own team have only names through the whole show. Anyway, the full fledged ones, particularly Suzukawa Koume and Ogasawara Akiko, are indeed quite interesting. Koume is your average girl next door. Akiko is spoiled rich tsundere, who behaves because of good manner.
Value: 6/10
Overall, Taishou Yakyuu Musume is hard to judge. It is good slice of life anime, but if you want something more dramatic, look the other way (Kimi ga Nozomu Eien for dramatic romance, Onii-sama e... for lesbians in highschool, Ookiku Furikabutte for real baseball). Maybe i rewatch it. Someday.
Enjoyment: 8/10
I wanted to like this anime more than it is worth. However, i succeeded. I saw all flaws and ignored them, because to watch anime is fun, isn't it?
