English: The Fachhallenhaus is the most widespread type of traditional farmhouses in northern Germany and southeastern Netherlands. The term can be translated with department hall house. Originally all indoor life of men and animals took place in corners of one large hall, forming the ground flour of the house. The attic above served as the barn. Later some chambres and at last even a kitchen was separated from the large hall.
Deutsch: Fachhallen- bzw. Niedersachsenhäuser
Plattdüütsch: Biller vun Neddersassenhüüs
Nederlands: Hallenhuisboerderij
