Beatrix

[edit]

Hello ATX-NL, a month ago you replaced File:Beerenbrouck.jpg with an obviously different picture without changing the source information so the source information was no longer matching the shown picture. It is not clear where your picture came from. Therefor I reverted your action. If you can give a source and can prove it is a free picture, you can upload it under a new name. You also claimed a better resolution but the Pixel resolution was even a little bit lower than the original so that claim was incorrect. - Robotje (talk) 13:32, 2 November 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Rijksoverheid vs. Mindef

[edit]

Groet, Adnergje (talk) 17:52, 4 October 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Foto's bewindslieden Rutte III

[edit]

Beste ATX-NL,

Mvg,

Woodcutterty (talk) 19:06, 26 October 2017 (UTC)[reply]

--DWiki2 (talk) 07:44, 27 October 2017 (UTC)[reply]
[edit]

Is the outcome of the above request to the Dutch government already clear? This case is about 25 photographs of Dutch government officials & Ministers, and the disputed copyright raises some concerns, as the photographs are already frequently used in several Wikipedia's (and often replace photographs with undisputed licenses). The term used by the Dutch Rijksoverheid ("Deze foto's zijn vrij te gebruiken") are unclear about re-use, cropping and commercial usage, but is also in conflict with the copyright sign on some photographs (see Ank Bijleveld) and the general copyright rules on the same website (https://www.rijksoverheid.nl/copyright/) stating "Voor foto's is de CC0 niet van toepassing. (My short transl.: "No CC-0; no re-use unless indicated"). If the permission wouldn't be given, it would be a lot of work to repair all replacements. I hope of course that the photographs will get a clear CC-BY-SA or PD license. Vysotsky (talk) 13:03, 4 November 2017 (UTC)[reply]

A question: does anyone know the name of the photographer? Vysotsky (talk) 13:03, 4 November 2017 (UTC)[reply]
The question was forwarded to the Ministry of General Affairs. I have not yet received a response. The portraits were shot by Nia Palli. Woodcutterty (talk) 17:05, 5 November 2017 (UTC)[reply]
Thanks. See also this related discussion, with different photographers. Vysotsky (talk) 17:15, 5 November 2017 (UTC)[reply]
Quick update: they're working on updating the website to clarify the conditions for re-use. In the meantime I've been told the photos of the Rutte III cabinet can be re-used, so deletion is not opportune. Woodcutterty (talk) 11:42, 16 November 2017 (UTC)[reply]
Update: The website has been updated to clarify the conditions for re-use of the photos of ministers and state secretaries. I'm afraid the copyright has been reserved in accordance with article 15b of the Copyright Act. The photos can only be downloaded for editorial use by news media, for exhibition in public spaces, and for private and educational use. Woodcutterty (talk) 09:51, 5 December 2017 (UTC)[reply]
Pity. This once again shows that uploading is a lot of work, but that it is even more work to make sure that licenses are correct. Thank you for giving it a try, User:Woodcutterty. I hope that the users who actively replaced in-license photographs by these photographs (of which the license was still unclear), will change everything back. These 26 files are now used 315 times in several language versions of Wikipedia. (Many even in Wikidata!) Vysotsky (talk) 11:04, 5 December 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Higher resolution but how about the license?

[edit]

Hello ATX-NL, two days ago you uploaded here a different file of a photo of Miller. In the edit summary you mentioned "Higher resolution" which is true. However you did not mention from where the new photo came and the [link to the source is today not working. Are you sure you got the new photo two days ago from the same page that is not working today? - Robotje (talk) 19:38, 9 April 2018 (UTC)[reply]

A few months passed but no explanation was given, not even a short reply that you saw my request. For copyright reasons I just undid your edit. If you can later explain where you found that higher resolution picture of G. William Miller and the licence is OK for Commons you can upload it again. - Robotje (talk) 23:47, 6 July 2018 (UTC)[reply]
I guess the photo was cropped from this Flickr file. No copyright problem. Vysotsky (talk) 00:07, 7 July 2018 (UTC)[reply]
The source for the picture was http://www.ustreas.gov/education/history/secretaries/gwmiller.htm but that was most likely not where he found the higher resolution version. Then it cannot be checked if the licence is OK for Commons or if there is a copyright issue. In that case reverting is the only option until the source for the higher resolution picture is clear. - Robotje (talk) 05:59, 7 July 2018 (UTC)[reply]
A few years ago I already explained that on this page (see section 'File:Beerenbrouck.jpg') and it now turns out after my revert he did again change that picture to a higher resolution version that did not come from the claimed source (nl-wiki). For the third time I reverted an update by ATX-NL for that picture. If ATX-NL keeps doing so he will get blocked here. - Robotje (talk) 06:20, 7 July 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Nieuwe upload foto

[edit]

Ymnes (talk) 17:43, 25 May 2018 (UTC)[reply]

This file may be deleted.
A file that you have uploaded to Wikimedia Commons, File:Al Gore 2009 (1).jpg, is a derivative work, containing an "image within an image". Examples of such works would include a photograph of a sculpture, a scan of a magazine cover, or a map that has been altered from the original. In each of these cases, the rights of the creator of the original must be considered, as well as those of the creator of the derivative work.

While the description page states who made this derivative work, it currently doesn't specify who created the original work, so the overall copyright status is unclear. If you did not create the original work depicted in this image, you will need to specify the owner of the copyright.

Please edit the file description and add the missing information, or the file may be deleted. If you created the original content yourself, enter this information as the source. If someone else created the content, the source should be the address to the web page where you found it, the name and ISBN of the book you scanned it from, or similar. You should also name the author, provide verifiable information to show that the content is in the public domain or has been published under a free license by its author, and add an appropriate template identifying the public domain or licensing status, if you have not already done so. Please add the required information for this and other files you have uploaded before adding more files. If you need assistance, please ask at the help desk. Thank you!

Notification about possible deletion

[edit]
Some contents have been listed at Commons:Deletion requests so that the community can discuss whether they should be kept or not. We would appreciate it if you could go to voice your opinion about this at their entry.

If you created these pages, please note that the fact that they have been proposed for deletion does not necessarily mean that we do not value your kind contribution. It simply means that one person believes that there is some specific problem with them, such as a copyright issue. Please see Commons:But it's my own work! for a guide on how to address these issues.

Please remember to respond to and – if appropriate – contradict the arguments supporting deletion. Arguments which focus on the nominator will not affect the result of the nomination. Thank you!

Hello ATX-NL, the following content you uploaded violates one or more of our policies and therefore has been or will soon be deleted:

File:John Fitzgerald Kennedy (cropped).png

The Wikimedia Commons (this website) only hosts media files with a realistic educational purpose and that can be used for any purpose, including:
  • use in any work, regardless of content
  • creation of derivative works
  • commercial use
  • free distribution

See Commons:Licensing for the copyright policy on Wikimedia Commons, and Commons:Image casebook for some specific examples. Some other Wikimedia projects have different licensing policies. For example, the English Wikipedia allows fair use of sounds and photographs. This is not the case on Wikimedia Commons; "fair use" materials are not acceptable here.

Please make sure that you only upload educational content you have created yourself, those which are out of copyright, or those for which you have the required permission for the work to be used in all the ways described above. Please note that derivative works of copyrighted material are also considered copyrighted. Again, please read through Commons:Licensing, which is quite crucial, to understanding how Wikimedia Commons works. Thanks for your contribution, and please do leave me a message if you have further questions.
