Buzz Brown was a hapless adventurer in the late 1930s.
History
Buzz Brown was born in the late 1920s, in Alaska, to a wealthy White fur trapper and his Eskimo wife. At an early age, he signed aboard a freighter's crew, bound for America.
At some later date, young Brown attempted to stow away aboard another freighter, bound for China, but was found and thrown overboard. He was found floating in the ocean by Sandy MacLean, a beachcomber in a small, sketchy sailboat. They attempted to sail to a port, but were caught in an enormous windstorm and swept far out to sea, dis-masted, and capsized. This time Buzz pulled Sandy out of the water, and they drifted about for a time, atop the overturned sailboat. They were found by Captain Scudd and his tramp steamer crew, en route to Singapore, and were pretty much shanghaied into his crew.
But Scudd's crew was largely involuntarily serving, and they hated him, and they found a smuggled stash of guns and ammunition! A mutiny broke out, and Scudd's officers brought a machine gun to bear on the rioting crew.

- This version of Buzz Brown, including all history and corresponding appearances, was erased from existence following the collapse of the original Multiverse in the 1985–86 Crisis on Infinite Earths event and later restored following the rebirth of the infinite Multiverse during the Dark Crisis of 2022-2023. Even though other versions of the character may have appeared, this information does not apply to those versions.
