Notes

Trivia

  • There are many references to Marvel Comics in this issue:
    • The Lightning Strikes team is obviously a pastiche of the Marvel's Thunderbolts:
    • During the Retaliators' presentation, Red Dragon is referred to as "a spy with a black past" which is a nod to being the pastiche of Black Widow, Purple Rain as a "witch with a vision" which is a nod to being the pastiche of Scarlet Witch and her husband Vision, Wundajin being "ready to hammer" which is a nod to being the pastiche of Thor and his hammer Mjolnir;
    • During the Suicide Squad and the Retaliators' clash, Ambush Bug disguises himself as Stan Lee and jokes about Amalgam Comics being cool.
  • Despite appearing on the cover of the issue, Major Max does not appear in the issue itself.
  • Ambush Bug mentions reading Bloodsport's words with a British accent. This is a reference to the DCEU Bloodsport being portrayed by the British actor, Idris Elba.
  • In this issue Peacemaker provides information to Bloodsport that convinces him to work against Amanda Waller despite her holding his brothers as leverage; what this information is is never revealed, and Waller will eventually compel Bloodsport back into her service by threatening his brothers.[1]
