Venus Girdles are the restraints used on Transformation Island and the planet Venus intended to help prisoners reform by altering their minds to ensure they obey their captors and are made more happy than they would be naturally.

The unbreakable girdles made of Aphrodite's magnetic gold charge every body cell with vitalizing currents and harmonize the brain. Prisoners are also given the key that unlocks the belt, in case they want to be freed, but they are so happy that they don't feel like doing so.[1] They were originally used solely on Venus until the planet's Queen Desira gave Diana some girdles to help her reform prisoners on Paradise Island.

They are designed so that those wearing them feel happy about submitting to authority, but if they are not locked properly it can cause a disorientating dichotomy within the wearers mind.[2] This does not prevent the wearer from plotting to remove the girdle so long as they have not been ordered not to, and Byrna Brilyant was able to subvert the girdle entirely outside of being unable to disobey while wearing it as her awareness that the thing was making her feel happy made her feel violated and compounded her feelings of injustice for being imprisoned without trial.[citation needed]

After the Cheetah used a Venus Girdle to control Wonder Woman, Venus added a new rule to the Girdle's magic that meant the wearers were only forced to submit to commands if they came from a loving authority.[3]
