The Spam-whitelist page is used in conjunction with the Mediawiki SpamBlacklist extension, and lists strings of text that override Meta's blacklist and the local spam-blacklist. Any administrator can edit the spam whitelist. Please post comments to the appropriate section below: Proposed additions (web pages to unblock), Proposed removals (sites to reblock), or Troubleshooting and problems; read the messageboxes at the top of each section for an explanation. See also MediaWiki talk:Spam-blacklist.

Please enter your requests at the bottom of the Proposed additions to Whitelist section and not at the very bottom of the page. Sign your requests with four tildes: ~~~~

Also in your request, please include the following:

    1. The link that you want whitelisted in the section title, like === example.com/help/index.php === .
    2. The Wikipedia page on which you want to use the link
    3. An explanation why it would be useful to the encyclopedia article proper
    4. If the site you're requesting is listed at /Common requests, please include confirmation that you have read the reason why requests regarding the site are commonly denied and that you still desire to proceed with your request

Important: You must provide a full link to the specific web page you want to be whitelisted (leave out the http:// from the front; otherwise you will not be able to save your edit to this page). Requests quoting only a domain (i.e. ending in .com or similar with nothing after the / character) are likely to be denied. If you wish to have a site fully unblocked please visit the relevant section of MediaWiki talk:Spam-blacklist.

Note: Do not request links to be whitelisted where you can reasonably suspect that the material you want to link to is in violation of copyright (see WP:LINKVIO). Such requests will likely be summarily rejected.

There is no automated notification system in place for the results of requests, and you will not be notified when your request has a response. You should therefore add this page to your personal watch list, to your notifications through the subscribe feature, or check back here every few days to see if there is any progress on it; in particular, you should check whether administrators have raised any additional queries or expressed any concerns about the request, as failure to reply to these promptly will generally result in the request being denied.

    Completed requests are archived, additions and removal are logged. →snippet for logging: {{/request|1244583875#section_name}}

Note that requests from new or unregistered users are not usually considered.

If you have a source that you would like to add to the spam-whitelist, but you are uncertain that it meets Wikipedia's guideline on reliability, please ask for opinions on the Reliable sources noticeboard, to confirm that it does meet that guideline, before submitting your whitelisting request here. In your request, link to the confirming discussion on that noticeboard.

Likewise, if you have an external link that you are uncertain meets Wikipedia's guideline on external links, please get confirmation on the External links noticeboard before submitting your whitelisting request here.

If your whitelist request falls under one of these two categories, the admins will be more willing to have the source whitelisted if you can achieve consensus at one of the above noticeboards.

I'm not sure why or when About.com was blacklisted, as I've seen it used in lots of articles over the years and at least some conversations at the Reliable Sources Noticeboard have considered it acceptable. The url I'm trying to add is: web.archive.org/web/20150218141955/countrymusic.about.com/od/reviews/fr/Florida-Georgia-Line-Heres-To-The-Good-Times-Album-Review.htm

The original link is already used as a review on the page Here's to the Good Times, so it's strange that I can't add the archived version of the url. --Jpcase (talk) 15:21, 9 August 2024 (UTC)Reply

    • Similarly to the request listed two subsections ago, the inclusion of this link would benefit the Roblox Studio article. Its target seems to be the sole page at which Roblox lists the latest Studio releases at a fixed URL. Therefore, it can serve as a citation for the latest release of Roblox Studio in the infobox of the article.

I would like to propose that a specific page on the Telegram domain be whitelisted for the following reasons:

Reason for Whitelisting: The Telegram bot link (t.me/robin_gold_game_bot and t.me/robingoldgame) is essential for users who want to directly access and interact with the Robin Gold game. The game is primarily available on Telegram, and including this link would significantly benefit users seeking easy access to the game platform. This is particularly relevant as Robin Gold's unique gameplay mechanics and social features are integrated directly into Telegram, which is not available on other platforms. The link does not lead to any malicious content or violate any Wikipedia guidelines, and it offers genuine utility to the readers interested in exploring the game further.

Benefit to Specific Articles: The inclusion of this link would directly benefit the Robin Gold article on Wikipedia, which discusses the mobile tapping game developed by Robin Gold Games. The game's primary platform is Telegram, and including the bot link in the article would provide direct access to the game, enhancing user experience and engagement. This would also help in verifying the legitimacy and availability of the game on Telegram, as mentioned in the article. Additionally, any future articles related to games or applications hosted on Telegram would benefit from the ability to link directly to their respective bots.

Specific Link to be Added: The link proposed for whitelistings are: t.me/robin_gold_game_bot and t.me/robingoldgame

    Link Summary: t.me: Linksearch en (insource) - meta - de - fr - simple - wikt:en - wikt:frSpamcheckMER-C X-wikigs • Reports: Links on en - COIBot - COIBot-Local • Discussions: tracked - advanced - RSN • COIBot-Link, Local, & XWiki Reports - Wikipedia: en - fr - de • Google: searchmeta • Domain: domaintoolsAboutUs.com

By whitelisting this specific page, Wikipedia can provide more comprehensive and practical information to its readers, particularly those interested in the Robin Gold game and other similar applications hosted on Telegram.

Thank you for considering this request.

    hangeul.or.kr/board/normal/article/60719

For use on User:Seefooddiet/Romanization of Korean on Wikipedia (I plan to eventually move this essay to Wikipedia:WikiProject Korea/Romanization of Korean on Wikipedia, maybe need to whitelist its use there too?).

It's a link to a post in a message board by the Korean Language Society. The post contains a file originally published by the National Institute of Korean Language (that is no longer on the NIKL website) that explains how the Revised Romanization of Korean works; my essay contains an explanation of that romanization system, and I'm trying to cite part of that file. I think this website and my essay are necessary evils to address the monster confusing mess that is the Romanization of Korean on Wikipedia (see both my essay and the romanization of Korean article to see what I mean). seefooddiet (talk) 09:27, 5 September 2024 (UTC)Reply

    wetransfer.com

I was updating the english Wikipedia article about WeTransfer and it turned out that wetransfer.com itself is blocked as spam, meaning that it's impossible to set the `website` parameter on that page. Definitely makes sense to keep it blocked elsewhere, but I think it also makes sense to allow it on the page about the website/company itself. Thanks in advance!

    Smallangryplanet (talk) 17:06, 6 September 2024 (UTC)Reply

@Smallangryplanet: per MediaWiki talk:Spam-whitelist/Common_requests#The_official_homepage_of_the_subject_of_a_page, we would need an about-page or a full url (including an index.htm) of the index page. Can you please provide a suitable link? --Dirk Beetstra T C 19:29, 6 September 2024 (UTC)Reply
They seem to have taken down their about page and don't have an index page - there's a wetransfer dot com /explore page (can't link it directly without tripping the filter), would that work? Smallangryplanet (talk) 19:45, 6 September 2024 (UTC)Reply

    A specific page of academicjournals.org

Hi, I'm copy-pasting what follows from the July archive page, as there has been no answer to it. Using the occasion to recall that that page is innocuous / devoid of whatever got the site banned. Thanks for your attention. Pueblo89 (talk) 07:38, 7 September 2024 (UTC)Reply

    1. That is the only page I've found that gives the full article. The summary does not mention 'soda lake', my ref is for p. 78. + the only doi i've found (in the banned page) is wrong (try it below). The ref is: Fayissa, Zelalem Dessalegn (May 2015). "Photosynthetic productivity and biomass of phytoplankton, in Lake Kuriftu, Ormia Region, Ethiopia". International Journal of Fisheries and Aquaculture. 7 (5): 71-80 (see p. 78). doi:10.5897/IJFA14.0462.
    2. It would benefit the page on soda lake (work in progress in sandbox) (can also be used in Algaculture and a couple of other associated pages).

Hello. I opened quite a few of these "linksummary" links. Can't make head or tails from these. So i just googled " what's the problem with academicjournals.org " (because i like it simple, tyvm). Got this: "Academicjournals.org – Academic Review Spam?" (by Henry Farrell on August 9, 2011). Now that raises suspicion - enough so that I don't care what date it is, some stains don't wash up; so definitely not want the whole site to be whitelisted and much regret that i can't find a more honest site giving the full article for free. I just need that one article to be available in full. If someone finds it elsewhere, all the better. (And maybe a doi that works, while i'm at it - don't ask, don't get.) Thank you for your attention. Pueblo89 (talk) 21:49, 14 July 2024 (UTC)Reply

The reason for the blacklisting is MediaWiki_talk:Spam-blacklist/archives/February_2019#Predatory_journals, calling the site a Nigerian mill churning out climate change denialism and other crap. And it's on Special:AbuseFilter/891/MediaWiki:abusefilter-warning-predatory. Make of that what you will. * Pppery * it has begun... 22:21, 14 July 2024 (UTC)Reply
Hi * Pppery *, well, this here article doesn't even mention the word "climate". Not at all a denial of what you said, which only serves to reinforce my view that the ban is a good thing on a general point of view. But no rule is good if it does not make room for exceptions, to be looked at on a case by case basis. So the question remains. Pueblo89 (talk) 10:13, 17 July 2024 (UTC)Reply
