Merge with Tripartite Free Trade Area

edit

I think it is the same subject (26 country same contry, merge of EAC-SADC-COMESA). The name of the free trade zone would change between 2008 and 2015. --Nouill (talk) 23:44, 10 June 2015 (UTC)Reply

Oppose - The Tripartite Free Trade Area or TFTA is an initiative by 3 Regional Economic Communities (SADC-COMESA-EAC) whereas the Continental Free Trade Area or CFTA (Not African Free Trade Zone) is the ultimate objective of the African Union, where the whole of Africa shall be a Customs Union and Free Market and so on. While the CFTA is a major step towards the CFTA, they are not the same thing. When the other RECs and African countries are ready to create a CFTA, the TFTA will presumably be a part of that. TFTA is clearly the continuation of AFTZ. Yes, it is not the CFTA but we are not talking about the CFTA being merged with this article, just the TFTA article. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 116.15.38.25 (talk) 15:45, 25 January 2017 (UTC)Reply

This article must merge with the TFTA. First of all: There is no African Free Trade Zone. The whole article clearly deals with a Free Trade Area, the Tripartite to be precise. The only source using the zone term is a old BBC article, that journalist probably didn't now better, that chinese article is not even working. There are plenty of documents about the TFTA. Also that FTA has nothing to do with the AU, so we don't need that box down there. The whole article with that lemma is misleading. We also now, that the AfCFTA is not connected to the TFTA. --Benjasadler (talk) 13:19, 16 April 2018 (UTC)Reply

Is the trade agreement still active or has it been replaced by a new one?SaschaCSULB (talk) 18:43, 26 September 2018 (UTC)Reply
