The result of this discussion was to split the Further reading section content to Bibliography of the American frontier Stefen Towers among the rest! GabGruntwerk 05:48, 2 December 2023 (UTC)Reply

Since this section is growing by such leaps and bounds, perhaps we should consider moving the material to Bibliography of the American frontier or something similar. Stefen Towers among the rest! GabGruntwerk 19:26, 26 November 2023 (UTC)Reply

I agree. This is getting pretty ponderous. Intothatdarkness 17:55, 28 November 2023 (UTC)Reply
Double columns? 2600:1700:606A:E000:3D95:C7C8:9D8A:A6D4 (talk) 02:35, 28 November 2023 (UTC)Reply
That would likely save some vertical space but it wouldn't reduce the growing number of entries. Stefen Towers among the rest! GabGruntwerk 02:56, 28 November 2023 (UTC)Reply
Double columns--no --it makes it hard to read a bibliography Rjensen (talk) 17:18, 28 November 2023 (UTC)Reply
A split for a bibliography sounds like the way to go, then. I anticipate more entries. 134.124.26.46 (talk) 03:05, 30 November 2023 (UTC)Reply
It seems we have a consensus. I would copy over to a new article but it would be best for the edits to this section to settle down first. Stefen Towers among the rest! GabGruntwerk 18:05, 1 December 2023 (UTC)Reply
This is a good time. 2600:1700:606A:E000:0:0:0:41 (talk) 03:04, 2 December 2023 (UTC)Reply
Done I have completed the split. The new article may need some additional categories and more prose, and perhaps a pic. Stefen Towers among the rest! GabGruntwerk 05:43, 2 December 2023 (UTC)Reply

Western fiction?

edit

There is a link to "Western film." Shouldn't there also be a link to "Western fiction"? See: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Western_fiction 134.124.25.250 (talk) 18:36, 4 December 2023 (UTC)Reply

legends of the Old West

edit

In perusing various articles related to persons and events of the Old West over a few hours, I have observed and tagged examples of lengthy passages that are wholly unsupported by any sources. I don't know where this stuff comes from. I hope we are not perpetuating an unencyclopedic, romanticized and mythologized version of Old West folklore, and I encourage editors to closer scrutinize the content. Butch Cassidy's Wild Bunch might be a good launching point to follow wikilinks and examine the myriad persons and events, many of which appear dubious. soibangla (talk) 06:47, 27 January 2024 (UTC)Reply
