Question
editHow did Charles Edward get to the United States for the reported visit in 1940? The war had broken out in 1939 and I can't imagine the British allowing German officials free passage across the Atlantic. -Ad Orientem (talk) 02:39, 2 August 2024 (UTC)

- Hi @Creuzbourg, historic royals names are often translated into English (even if they had no connection to an English-speaking country) and this duke is usually referred to as Charles Edward in English language sources. He also seems to have used "Charles Edward" in English in later life. He is quoted doing so at the end of the "trial and final years" section. Llewee (talk) 22:15, 2 August 2024 (UTC)
