I have information about Gilchrist that does not seem to be published elsewhere. For instance, although he had no children with Mary Ann Coventry, he was previously married to (or at least had a relationship with) a woman in India, "a daughter of a wealthy Hindoo merchant and planter", with whom he had 8 children. I would be happy to publish this information, but I don't want to violate WP:NOR. Can anyone give me guidance on this? Portnadler (talk) 11:01, 22 December 2014 (UTC)Reply
Gilchrist Children: yes he had 8 children to his Indian wife only three of which survived to adulthood and this can be seen (with difficulty) through his long will (in part) but the question remains as to the name of his wife and date of death.

I've done a major rewrite to clean up the article, include new information, cite sources and remove unsourced material. I have discovered several contemporaneous references to Gilchrist's Indian-born children, so I have included as much as I can without resorting to unreliable original material and anything that violates WP:NOR. I've also added a brief account of the long drawn-out legal battle over his will. Portnadler (talk) 18:15, 13 December 2016 (UTC)Reply
