General comments
edit- Both the non-free infobox image and the audio sample have valid fair use rationales. The free, Wikimedia Commons image has a correct license.
- Slightly high percentage of copyvio due to over-quoting. We can fix that during the review.
- Good to know.
- I've paraphrased a few quotes and the score is looking better; I'll see if I can do some more. Averageuntitleduser (talk) 02:39, 12 March 2024 (UTC)
- It has improved nicely. Skyshiftertalk 19:20, 12 March 2024 (UTC)

- Good to know.
- WP:FANTANO says that discretion should be applied on a case-by-case basis when determining if a review from The Needle Drop is appropriate to include in a given article. I believe this article presents a valid use of an Anthony Fantano review. Honestly, I don't know if there has ever been a GA with the source, so I might be being bold here. However, all mentions to the source are attributed and I don't see any WP:DUE issues, so I think this is perfectly acceptable. If you plan on taking the article to FAC, note that reviewers tend to be much more rigid in that regard, and it may need to be removed.
- PetScan really only shows four GAs with his reception. Being a more niche album, I figured that his strong positivity towarads it made his review worth including. But yeah, I'm not sure if it'd survive an FAC.
- Similarly, there are some articles from sources of unknown reliability; however, most of them are interviews and WP:ABOUTSELF applies, or they are simple statements of fact (or alternatively, no extraordinary claims). If you want to promote this to FA though, they may need to be removed or trimmed.
- Noted.
Infobox and lead
edit- Wallsocket was promoted with an alternate reality game involving websites of its fictional town setting, four singles [...] This can be read as the alternate reality game involving four singles. You could do something like [...] fictional town setting, as well as four singles [...]
- Switched the list order (I've realized that I use "as well as" too much lol)
- Across the characters This is the first time characters are mentioned; could do like Across the album's fictional characters for clarity
- Done, left out the "fictional" due to repetition, and I think its implied
- Usually the composition section is placed before the promotion and release one.
- Good catch, let me know if the image placement is problematic. Averageuntitleduser (talk) 22:23, 12 March 2024 (UTC)
- I've moved the image to the right and one paragraph up, with a slightly smaller size. I think this is the best positioning, though you may disagree. Skyshiftertalk 22:38, 12 March 2024 (UTC)
- It looks nice! Admittedly, I've been using the 2010 skin; it works well on the 2022 version. Averageuntitleduser (talk) 23:18, 12 March 2024 (UTC)
- I'm also using the 2010 version, I've honestly forgot the 2022 one is the default. Skyshiftertalk 23:59, 12 March 2024 (UTC)

edit- About the album's fictional Wallsocket, Michigan setting I think this should be introduced more properly to the reader since it's the first mention of the location; maybe The album is set in the fictional Wallsocket, in Michigan.
- Good idea, done
- The Metal quote probably doesn't need attribution to Metal, and it could be paraphrased. You could write something like: According to Underscores, while her previous projects Fishmonger and Boneyard AKA Fearmonger were inspired by New Jersey, the "Wallsocket era" was the first time she directly referenced a location.
- I like that, done
- This inspired themes of coming of age, as it was a setting she grew up around. This feels a bit misplaced. I think this should be right after and nostalgic memories of her grandparents' Idahoan house. This will also connect two sentences that are about upper middle class.
- Done, I've also moved the "sonder, microcosm, and confinement" bit, as they seem rooted in her inspiration of horror films, where they are common themes Averageuntitleduser (talk) 22:23, 12 March 2024 (UTC)
- then funneling it into the characters first mention of characters; could do then funneling it into the album's fictional characters for clarity

Composition
editOverview
edit- Wallsocket is primarily pop, rock, folk, and country, with influences of [...] "Rock, folk, and country" should be moved to the influences. Checking references 16 and 32, The Line of Best Fit says: "Wallsocket is just a really good pop (and rock, and folk, and everything in between) album". Considering the way it is written, I think it is valid to say the album is being defined as pop, but not as the other genres (what is "everything in between"?) as it seems to be just talking about inspirations. The Face says that Wallsocket "[takes] inspiration from the rock, country and folk music [...]". If applied, change the infobox and lead accordingly.
- Done for The Face, but not yet for The Line of Best Fit. I gathered that it thought the album was defined by many genres, with pop, rock, and folk being the most prominent. Otherwise, I removed two of the rock influences, which I think I overemphasized.
- Ali Shutler wrote for NME that, over its 12 long tracks a The Line of Best Fit reference shouldn't be here. If Shutler didn't mention the 12 tracks were "long", it shouldn't be written like that.
- I agree, done
Songs
edit- While "Johnny Johnny Johnny" recalls [...] seems that "While" shouldn't be here
- Done
- Same for "Whereas" further down. I think I understand what you wanted to do here, but this is not the standard for composition sections I believe, especially because it's not written in a "While X, Y" or "X, whereas Y" (with the comma being a big difference here).
- Yeah, I'm a sucker for transition words, but I realize that these don't really work.
Promotion and release
edit- You should mention that Underscores signed with Mom + Pop the same day "Cops and Robbers" was released.
- Done (as an announcement)
- It seems like some primary sources are unnecessary, as the text is already supported by reliable, secondary sources. This appears to be the case with references 25, 26, 27, 29, and 30.
- Yeah, I suppose the dates of and links from the secondary sources are enough confirmation, done
Critical reception
edit- I've copyedited the section, feel free to revert any changes.
Year-end lists
edit- Could add prose summarizing the lists. For example: "In "best albums of 2023" lists, Wallsocket landed top 10 in the lists by The Atlantic, [...] It also appeared on [...]"
- Thank you for the clarification! Does it look alright? Averageuntitleduser (talk) 23:30, 12 March 2024 (UTC)
- I'm not sure the "Cops and Robbers" list is necessary for the album article, especially since it comes from a situational source.
- Done
Other comments
edit- Track listing, Personnel, and Release history all seem fine
- Spot-check
Numbers based on this version and chosen randomly (mostly), though I made sure to include some of the ones with a lot of citations (i.e. Paste).
- 7:
- 9: It seems that "You Don't Even Know Who I Am" isn't even mentioned in the source, so you should remove the reference from that part of the article. Otherwise, it confirms everything. I've also changed "her mindset switched from pessimism to optimism" to "she became optimistic" because "pessimism" isn't directly mentioned.
- Ah, they mistitled it in the article as "You don’t really know who I am". Otherwise, I like the change. Averageuntitleduser (talk) 20:09, 20 March 2024 (UTC)

- 28: This was added to "while others thought it had moved on entirely" but I don't see how the source confirms that? It only talks about only one song, "Geez Louise", being similar to Underscores' previous work "as a revolutionary hyper-pop artist", and doesn't say the album "had moved on entirely". Other than that, everything checks out.
- Agreed, I was a bit too liberal with that. I've removed that citation and the word "entirely". Averageuntitleduser (talk) 20:09, 20 March 2024 (UTC)
- 30: This might be the first-ever Anthony Fantano spot-check in a GAN... Confirmed; could add a note saying that Fantano gave specifically a "decent to strong 8" score. I edited the "saturated" bit a little to better fit what Fantano specifically said.
- Done, and I like the change! Averageuntitleduser (talk) 01:43, 18 March 2024 (UTC)

- I'll also check all year-end lists; these being 24 ( ), 35 ( ), 36 ( ), 37 ( ), and 38 ( ). (The link to that last one was wrong; I've fixed it).
