Lynda Biribonwa, is a businesswoman and corporate executive in Uganda. She is the chairperson of the Petroleum Authority of Uganda, the national regulator of the nascent petroleum industry in this East African country. Her four-year term began on 19 July 2024.[1][2]

Background and education

She is a Ugandan national. She holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in Environment Management and Business Administration, awarded by Keele University in the United Kingdom. Her Master of Science in environment and development, was obtained from the University of Reading, also in the United Kingdom. She also graduated from the CWC School of Energy, in London, with an MBA in Oil and Gas.[1][2]

Career

Her career stretches back for over 23 years, as of July 2024. She is reported to be "an environment, health, safety specialist, who is a certified ISO 9000 Internal Quality Management System Auditor as well as ISO 40001 certified Lead Environmental Management Systems Auditor", with "experience in Environment, Health, and Safety at strategic, policy, compliance, and practitioner level".[3]

From May 2020 until May 2024, Biribonwa served on the board of PAU and was the head of the Governance, Board, and Audit Committee. That committee "develops and recommends policies and procedures to ensure sound governance practices are in place and guides the Board in fulfilling its oversight role".[3]
