  The Barnstar of Diligence
For your copyright work in general, but especially for these thoughtful and helpful comments. asilvering (talk) 23:43, 18 September 2024 (UTC)Reply
(any chance I can convince you to write up a little guide on the subject?) -- asilvering (talk) 23:44, 18 September 2024 (UTC)Reply
@Asilvering I don't really know what to say other than thank you, and I'm glad that somebody is finding that wall of text remotely useful! If somebody else promises to ruthlessly edit it, I'd be willing to get the ball rolling on a guide. But seriously- thank you for your kind words. It's always a pleasure to see you around the project. ❤️ GreenLipstickLesbian (talk) 21:28, 19 September 2024 (UTC)Reply
Happy to be the red pen, if you want to get it started! -- asilvering (talk) 21:31, 19 September 2024 (UTC)Reply

Thank you

I just wanted to thank you for your feedback and to let you know that I am taking it very seriously. I am currently re-viewing the attribute requirements for copying across Wikipedia to ensure I have a better handle on the past practices moving forward. I also recognize that as an admin, I will be recognized as being more knowledgable, which comes with great responsibility. I do not take this lightly. Do not hesitate to call into question any of my actions moving forward. Significa liberdade (she/her) (talk) 23:14, 21 September 2024 (UTC)Reply

@Significa liberdade Thanks for posting this. I know I really left my second comment to literally the last minute. n hindsight, I should have double-checked how long you'd have had to respond. I also should have modified my "strong" oppose. With the information I had when I made it, I felt it was necessary. But with your explanation? No. It wasn't fair, and it wasn't fair for me to leave it like that. I should have struck it before the auto-hold went into place. And, if I'd had longer to think it over, I might have even moved back into neutral.
For what it's worth, if you do fix the issues I pointed out (mostly the attribution ones), then I meant what I said in my original support- I'll be satisfied. And I don't think you're a bad person, I do think you're a net positive to the Wikipedia community, I respect you as an editor, and you can't forget that the community found consensus to trust you with the tools. That's the biggest vote of confidence somebody can receive on here, and even I don't think my last-minute comments would have swayed it to anything lower than the discretionary zone. You also have the respect and support of three out of the four editors whose opinions I respect the most - one of them even nominated you. Thank you for doing so much copyvio work. I'd love to help because I think it is important, but it's so complicated. Yeegh! -- mikeblas (talk) 02:25, 24 September 2024 (UTC)Reply

@Mikeblas Complicated, you say? Man, tell me about it! In a way, though, I feel lucky because I've found a niche that incorporates my two favourite pastimes: reading random Wikipedia articles, and reading random academic sources. And thank you for using your fancy-admin tools for dealing with copyright problems. The importance of that cannot be overstated. GreenLipstickLesbian (talk) 03:39, 24 September 2024 (UTC)Reply
Happy to help. I think many of us are here for exactly that expanding read more broadly experience. -- mikeblas (talk) 13:47, 24 September 2024 (UTC)Reply
