About using edit summaries

edit

Hi! Please read the information below to learn about using edit summaries. Thanks and welcome to Wikipedia! --Plek 15:15, 9 Jan 2005 (UTC)

When editing an article on Wikipedia there is a small field labelled "Edit summary" under the main edit-box. It looks like this:

The text written here will appear on the Recent changes page, in the page revision history, on the diff page, and in the watchlists of users who are watching that article. See m:Help:Edit summary for full information on this feature.

When you leave the edit summary blank, some of your edits could be mistaken for vandalism and may be reverted, so please always briefly summarize your edits, especially when you are making subtle but important changes, like changing dates or numbers. Thank you.

stealth edits

edit

Hi Nvinen, I replied on my talk page Dan100 20:07, Jan 27, 2005 (UTC)

BTW you might want to look at air-to-air missile. No-one had written any text on that page until I did yesterday, and my work almost certainly needs copyediting and correcting! Dan100 20:13, Jan 27, 2005 (UTC)
Why did you remove the sentence I added to ELINT which relates it to stealth technology? I think it's at least as relevant as the world war 2 example you put in instead. Nvinen 04:52, 1 Feb 2005 (UTC)

Absolutly. I did not know that I had until you pointed it out! It was a mistake! Pleased accept my apologies. Philip Baird Shearer 09:33, 1 Feb 2005 (UTC)

flame throwing tanks

I know of many world war II tanks that had large flame throwers. DO you know of any post-world war II tanks tha have had them? --AlainV 19:32, 12 Feb 2005 (UTC)

SA-19

edit

Hi! I have checked SA-1, SA-2, ... SA-19. I added and corrected Russian names of SAM. There are problem in SA-19 Grisom. It's not "Pantsyr S-1", it's "Tunguska" (see links in the talk page and history of the page).

You name SA-3 Goa as Isayev S-125 but in Russian it's officially simple S-125 (in cyrillic: С-125). Also about SA-4 Ganef, SA-5 Gammon etc.

Sorry for my English :( --.:Ajvol:. 00:30, 13 Feb 2005 (UTC)

Thanks, I read somewhere that Isayev designed the S-125 system. At least for western systems, they are typically known by the main developer. Do you know who was responsible for its design?

That's OK, your English is a lot better than my Russian :) I hope if you have any knowledge of any of these systems or come across something you will also help with some facts. I do as much research as I can but a lot of this information is guessed and inconsistent. Anything you can find out would be great :)

Hi, thanks for your feedback and for chosing to discuss matters rather than just edit war. Very refreshing! I've removed my incorrect reasoning about kinetic energy and restored the paragraph about the better ballistics of DU projectiles over other materials. I've also altered the section to more clearly highlight DU's other advantages over, say, tungsten, including easier of production. Dan100 19:42, Mar 8, 2005 (UTC)

Military history of the Soviet Union

edit

I do not know you at all, so I don't know if there are other reasons for you wanting to leave Wikipedia, but you grossly misunderstood the purpose of my edit on Soviet military history. Please see the Talk page. Thank you. Ryan Anderson 02:08, 11 Mar 2005 (UTC)

Repute

edit

The quote on User page: For every book or pilot quote you can make stating one thing, the idea you support, you can often find as many that repute it.

Do you mean dispute or refute? I'm reading this quote to mean "there are as many that [-regard- or -consider-] it," and this seems nonsensical. Mr. Billion 07:20, 10 May 2005 (UTC)Reply

Image to Wikipedia Commons?

edit

Hi,

Thanks for your spider picture. It would be great if you could upload it to Wikipedia Commons. That way people in all language versions of Wikipedia could use it without any fuss.

Speedy deletion nomination of Hongqi-1

edit

If this is the first article that you have created, you may want to read the guide to writing your first article.

You may want to consider using the Article Wizard to help you create articles.

A tag has been placed on Hongqi-1 requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section A3 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because it is an article with no content whatsoever, or whose contents consist only of external links, a "See also" section, book references, category tags, template tags, interwiki links, a rephrasing of the title, or an attempt to contact the subject of the article. Please see Wikipedia:Stub for our minimum information standards for short articles. Also please note that articles must be on notable subjects and should provide references to reliable sources that verify their content.

If you think that this notice was placed here in error, contest the deletion by clicking on the button labelled "Click here to contest this speedy deletion". Doing so will take you to the talk page where you will find a pre-formatted place for you to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. You can also visit the the page's talk page directly to give your reasons, but be aware that once tagged for speedy deletion, if the page meets the criterion, it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but don't hesitate to add information to the page that would render it more in conformance with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. If the page is deleted, you can contact one of these administrators to request that the administrator userfy the page or email a copy to you. TiMike (talk) 23:18, 29 August 2011 (UTC)Reply
