What, Where, When, and How?
edit- When? : Wednesday, November 17, 2010 - 7-9 p.m. (tentative)
- Where : Cosi @ Metro Center, 700 11th Street NW (12th & G St NW)
Agenda
editThe purpose of this meetup is to discuss and plan activities of the local DC Wikimedia group, and allow people to give short presentations (lightning talks?) on projects they (you!) are working on and are of interest to the group.
Topics for discussion:
- Wikimedia DC (local chapter or local affiliate of regional chapter? next steps?)
- Wikimedia public policy / campus ambassadors program
- Wikimedia Fundraiser 2010, by User:Swatjester/User:Drosenthal via Skype
- Smithsonian-Wikipedia collaboration, WP:FedFlix and the Library of Congress - updates by User:Aude
- Brief update on new federal Statipedia & request for input on policy regarding updates to wikipedia on federal work time ; by User:Econterms
- Yay! sounds very interesting! --Aude (talk) 16:55, 16 November 2010 (UTC)
- That is very interesting, you might want to look at what I did for the Army Center of Military History, (you can see the COI statement at User:Sadads/CMH, and I can talk to you about my thought behind it if you would like sometime. The Army actually has a
policybest practice to engage Wikipedia, believe it or not. Unfortunately I cannot come up to DC on Wednesday, though I would be willing to meet up with you either over the weekend, next week or if we do a meetup at the end of December/beginning of January, Sadads (talk) 18:33, 16 November 2010 (UTC)
- Super! I may contact you before the next meetup. Do you know if any policy specifics are available online? It would be good to see an example. -- Econterms (talk) 16:00, 17 November 2010 (UTC),
- Here is one I found thus far:http://www.slideshare.net/DepartmentofDefense/social-media-overview-4773666 , I am trying to find the show that explicitly said something of the nature of "respect the community on Wikipedia but as the public relations officer you are responsible for making sure that unit and commander pages don't present anything libelous or unavailable to the public". I was forwarded it by one of the Army staff I was working with. Also, the Air Force pretty much leave it open in publications like http://www.af.mil/shared/media/document/AFD-090406-036.pdf . I should take back the term policy, and rephrase best practice. I am not finding the original source anywhere though, Sadads (talk) 22:08, 17 November 2010 (UTC)
- Found it http://www.slideshare.net/USArmySocialMedia/army-social-media-best-practices-4937307, look for page 20, Sadads (talk) 22:13, 17 November 2010 (UTC)
