Carboloy

Blend of carbon +‎ alloy. Originally (from 1928) a trademark of General Electric and its subsidiary GE Carboloy, the latter now a part of Seco Tools.

1. (trademark) A composite material consisting of tungsten carbide particles cemented into a cobalt or nickel binder, notable for its hardness and heat-resistance, used e.g. in cutters and machine tools.
