*For the record (and if I may say I think my comment should carry particular weight, because I am no defender of Ryoung -- but fair's fair...) it almost inconceivable that the real Robert Young would have made [http://en.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=L._Stephen_Coles&diff=prev&oldid=600604373 this not-at-all-funny edit], as the two are known to be close friends. *{{Ping|Rschen7754}} There are enough similarities that I'll call it at as Ryoung122 for the purposes of archiving. If User:Ryoung122 ever appeals his block we can deal with it then. Prior SSP or RFCU cases may exist for this user:

15 September 2012
Suspected sockpuppets
  1. User:Ryoung122 was topic banned from longevity-related articles a year and a half ago
  2. He was warned for breaking his topic ban before, and his response suggests that he felt his ban should no longer be in force
  3. 92% of the ip's last 50 edits have been to longevity-related articles, as are many, many before them
  4. The IP's edit summaries and general tone suggest the same sort of tendentious editing that got User:Ryoung122 to arbitration committee in the first place: this is the best example but, unless you've dealt with the user over an extended period of time, it's difficult to put into tone into context
  5. ip is based in the state of Georgia, as is User:Ryoung122 per his user page as well as his public profile on the internet

Thus I am requesting CheckUser because I believe that Ryoung122 is using this IP address to evade his topic ban. Canadian Paul 19:12, 15 September 2012 (UTC)[reply]

It's been clear for at least 6 months that Ryoung122 switches to this IP when editing in his banned area, but sometimes forgets to log in when posting outside the banned area.

  • In posts of any length Ryoung122's style of writing as well as argumentation is unmistakable. A striking example (for those familiar with his fingerprints) is here [1].
  • Other the low-hanging fruit here [2], including a particularly obvious example in which, on a talk page with no posts at all for 4 years, the IP and Ryoung122 both suddenly arrive to post within 3 minutes of each other, on the same narrow aspect of the article subject. [3] [4]
  • Ryoung122 has a substantial history of chronic sockpuppetry, and[see below] has violated his topic ban (under his own username) numerous times, if intermittently.
    • A few examples: [5][6][7]
    • Here he excuses one of his violations [8] with, "The ban was for an 'indefinite' time period, not forever" -- and in the same post continues the ban-violating discussion! [9]

I'm not sure a checkuser is needed -- the quacking is deafening. EEng (talk) 23:41, 15 September 2012 (UTC)[reply]

On reviewing the record my words above, substantial history of chronic sockpuppetry, turn out to be an exaggeration -- previous sockpuppetry cases have been somewhat ambiguous. Just wanted to correct that for the record. EEng (talk) 13:54, 16 September 2012 (UTC)[reply]

  • Looks extremely likely to me. Blocked and tagged per WP:DUCK. And I've blocked the IP for a week. Callanecc (talkcontribslogs) 05:37, 22 March 2014 (UTC)[reply]
    • Could the clerks hold off on archiving this one, I need to have a chat to a CU about it. Callanecc (talkcontribslogs) 05:50, 22 March 2014 (UTC)[reply]
      • Callanecc, while I'm glad that the "Robertyoung122" and "197.76.169.102" IP address were blocked and tagged, I thought I'll report my investigation results into this impersonation of the real Robert Young of Atlanta, Georgia. First, as you will see, I'm a long-time Wikipedia member despite having not edited in quite a long time due to lack of interest on my own part as well as becoming more involved as a volunteer for Gerontology Research Group. While I have a strong interest in longevity topics, I became active in early 2012, I believe, right after the ArbCom longevity issues and lost interest ever since when I saw that I spent more time in the talk pages rather than improving articles and that frustrated me. Back to the subject at hand, I'm also an administrator at The 110 Club forum, which is an informal forum discussing about supercentenarians (people who have reached 110+ years old). One member named "Border" on our forum is from South Africa, and he was upset with the real Robert Young, who uses "ryoung122" both at that forum as well as on Wikipedia here before his topic-ban. Border used two IP addresses yesterday on our forum, which were: 197.76.133.61 (first post) and 41.13.70.185 (2nd post). The two vandalism entries on Wikipedia, first by "Robertyoung122"/"197.76.169.102", showed that the IP address is from South Africa, but not down to city level. The later vandalism can be found here: https://en.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=List_of_living_supercentenarians&diff=prev&oldid=600644924. This was from IP address of 41.13.92.119, which happens to be from same town as our Border's 2nd post's IP address of 41.13.70.185. For a very small forum like ours, this is quite suspicious. We have suspended this member from our forum, and I just wanted to make sure that the real "ryoung122" is liberated from this SPI. WP:DUCK can be used too liberally by administrators to think that it's the expected person at fault. While I personally work with "ryoung122" at Gerontology Research Group, this is not COI because I am only interested in ensuring that Wikipedia administrators do not jump to conclusions regarding the real "ryoung122" persona, who lives in Atlanta, Georgia, and has expressed a desire to return back to Wikipedia. He said he appears he cannot even respond to this SPI (his account apparently isn't working despite only having a "topic-ban"). Cheers, CalvinTy 02:02, 23 March 2014 (UTC)[reply]
      • One more thing I forgot to mention, this time is by request of Dr. L. Stephen Coles, co-founder of Gerontology Research Group. He was quite upset with the vandalism on his page: https://en.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=L._Stephen_Coles&diff=prev&oldid=600604373 by "Robertyoung122". He has pancreatic cancer and has gone through chemotherapy, so some family members and friends saw the vandalism and believed the worst that he had died. He wants assurance that "robertyoung122", "197.76.169.102", and "41.13.92.119" (and if you can, include the two IP addresses I have of our forum member "Border") are never to vandal Dr. Coles's article again. Please feel free to do any further investigation into this matter as we all would appreciate it: Dr. L. Stephen Coles of California, Robert Douglas Young of Georgia, and Mark E. Muir of Virginia. It's most appreciated. Cheers, CalvinTy 02:31, 23 March 2014 (UTC)[reply]
        • Whoops! I re-read what I had posted and realized I posted in the wrong section! Callanecc, I wasn't sure if I should re-edit to move into the appropriate section above, or just to let you move my comments above yourself. My apologizes. :-) Cheers, CalvinTy 02:54, 23 March 2014 (UTC)[reply]
