Military Service

[edit]

It seems Roker served in the US Army? Does anyone have details? — Preceding unsigned comment added by 2601:647:4800:54:A52E:9760:60D:5B7E (talk) 17:33, 2 February 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Education

[edit]

Seems strange there is no specific information about his education. Maybe this is because he majored in Communications and is not actually a Meteorologists at all.

Inauguration 2013

[edit]

The highlights section at the end should be amended to read that he exchanged words with the president and shook hands with the vice president at the 2013 inaugural parade. This is unclear as it is written, since there was also a 2009 inaugural parade with Obama and Biden.

Am I the only one who thinks this photo is about as ridiculous as you can get? 71.40.160.154 03:42, 4 May 2006 (UTC)[reply]

suggested changes:

from "He worked in television around the Cleveland and New York areas before he became a weatherman for WNBC in New York."

to: "(new paragraph)He worked for NBC O&Os WKYC-TV, Cleveland and WRC-TV, Washington before becoming a weatherman for WNBC in New York."

from: "Roker started getting more exposure, especially when David Letterman asked him to do an elevator race with him in one episode of his talk show Late Night with David Letterman."

to: "Roker started getting national exposure on the talk show Late Night with David Letterman, which taped in the studio directly across the hall from the news studio. On one occasion Letterman challenged him to an elevator race."

(consider making this a separate section, it's now under Personal Life) JimmB 04:46, 7 June 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Included SNL guest appearance from 2/28/06. Too much elaboration?

The info about the shows he hosts on Food Network should probably be promoted to the career section. He hosts these programs, which makes it a significant contribution. I may rewrite this when I get a chance. --Gglockner 03:45, 23 June 2007 (UTC)[reply]

I would think that this section should include a reference to Al Roker Entertainment, a media brand he is very clearly involved with. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 69.208.67.102 (talk) 01:40, 21 July 2013 (UTC)[reply]

God

[edit]

Why does someone on Wikipedia think Al Roker is God? Is there something about him that leads them to this conclusion? --Miked84 18:57, 28 June 2006 (UTC)[reply]

He's fat again

[edit]

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1qHvWII9KI8&eurl= for reference; I think this should be noted in the article Xizer 05:49, 17 November 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Bogus info

[edit]

I'm thinking this might be inappropriate...

Made a fool of himself February 11, 2007 on Late Night with Conan O'Brien, speaking of a dead Peter O'Toole and talking way too loud.

Cleaning up

[edit]

I think I did the Wiki-community a great service by cleaning up this page. So much unsourced crap...for shame.

birth name?

[edit]

Someone wrote here that Al's birth name is Linoleus Richards-Trajas, but I have found absoultely no source for this-only this page comes up when I Googled that name. Therefore, I deleted it. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 142.68.54.248 (talk) 23:44, 10 September 2007 (UTC)[reply]

vandalism

[edit]

bah I give up, this article is ridiculous (he ate a WHOLE PIG?). -67.171.230.129 (talk) 08:10, 11 July 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Sexual Orientation?

[edit]

What is his sexual orientation? —Preceding unsigned comment added by 98.218.232.71 (talk) 19:25, 20 January 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Sunday Sunday?

[edit]

Why does Al always say Sunday twice? What's it a reference to?

He is parodying the TV commercials for Monster Truck Rallys.--DCX (talk) 21:44, 25 March 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Family, personal background

[edit]

Roker is Lenny Kravitz's second cousin, not third cousin. Their grandfathers were brothers, which makes them third cousins. The error should be corrected. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 71.241.206.120 (talk) 13:45, 23 January 2023 (UTC)[reply]

There is a lot of information missing and a lot of unnecessary information as well. Is this article the subject of repeated vandalism?

Why is the drunk ewok incident mentioned?

There is no mention of his cookbooks?

He is a cousin to Lenny Kravitz, not mentioned...

--DCX (talk) 21:43, 25 March 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Cousins

[edit]

To be second cousins, two people need to share ancestors, whom at least one of the pair considers a great-grandparent. The article currently states that the two share great-great-grandparents, but if they are second cousins, they should share great-grandparents as well.

Xie1995 (talk) 00:01, 21 January 2021 (UTC)[reply]

If their grandparents were cousins, it would make them third cousins.

Change years

[edit]

So under the 2012 Olympic Logo Controversy the tweet was signed with "Al Roker, June 7, 2007, describing the reaction to the logo for 2012 Summer Olympics" I know he does the weather but does he really predict the future? I'm impressed if someone can predict something like that 5-6 years before the 2012 Olympics. Thomasthedarkenguine (talk) 21:57, 18 September 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Just a friendly heads up: the 2012 London Olympics logo was unveiled 5 years before the actual games so the date is accurate. [1] Sigma440 (talk) 00:30, 19 September 2023 (UTC)[reply]
Oh I didn't know that, I thought that the logo for the Olympics is revealed at least 6 months prior. Thomasthedarkenguine (talk) 15:50, 19 September 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Unable to edit this article

[edit]

I was going to add the "21st-century African-American people" category to this article (since Roker doesn't only live in the 20th century), but I was unable to do so because this article appears to be locked from editing. Please fix this ridiculous situation! 98.123.38.211 (talk) 02:13, 13 September 2024 (UTC)[reply]
