[edit]The vacuum oil company eventually became Mobil, and therefor Exxon Mobil. I just need to get my sources together and have not had the time. Matthew Ewing, was also a well known in business in the mid 1800s, but again, short on time.

[edit]This article says that Hiram was born in 1831 and was a professor until 1835. Perhaps they realized that a 4 year old was underqualified? —Preceding unsigned comment added by 216.26.0.20 (talk) 07:42, 28 February 2008 (UTC)
Additional information on H.B. Everest.
[edit]Rfandjr (talk) 06:50, 22 December 2012 (UTC) Hiram Bond Everest was my Great Great Grandfather; and I am fortunate enough to have all of his surviving diaries, photos and a small collection of personal items, including one accounting tablet from Vacuum Oil that survived the fire which destroyed the company building, I believe on Main Street, in Rochester, New York. For the past many years I have meant to work on this page. I believe it was set up by Mobil when they did a write-up on the history of the company several years ago. As time allows, I will add writings from his diaries, of which there are three, which he wrote between the ages of 15 to 35; and posting other images of his life, family and business interests.
If someone reads this who knows how and where to find a copy of, " The Founders of Mobil", I believe that was the name, which was a small publication Mobil did for their 100th anniversary, please post the information here.
I am curious as to why Hiram Bond Everest's given names are Hiram Bond. My great great grandfather was Hiram Bo n d a country general practitioner physician. His son my great grandfather Hiram Bond Jr. is listed on Wikipedia Hiram Bond. My family lived in Pike, New York around when H.B. Everest was born. I am not aware of shared ancestry and wonder if Everest's parents named him for the doctor. RichardBond (talk) 06:41, 6 November 2020 (UTC)
I have since been told by one of Everest's biographers that Everest was named for Dr. Hiram Bond who served as the family doctor and managed to keep him healthy although Everest was premature.RichardBond (talk) 23:16, 28 July 2022 (UTC)
