@Andrevan now that you have a better understanding of secondary independent sources, want to try again with providing the best WP:THREE here (and only three, please)? S0091 (talk) 18:21, 4 January 2023 (UTC)[reply]
You already alluded that this one [1] might be OK, I also found this one [2] which seems pretty substantive. As far as the 3rd, this one[3] has some quotes ABOUT him but no quotes FROM him. Andre🚐 21:00, 4 January 2023 (UTC)[reply]
@Andrevan are all of these already in cited in the draft (assuming #1 is)? If not, please do so (suggest trading out poorer ones for the better ones if possible). I will try to take a look tomorrow, unless another reviewer takes a look in the interim. If you do not hear from me (or anyone) in a couple days, please remind me. S0091 (talk) 21:10, 4 January 2023 (UTC)[reply]
They are cited, I'm sure the draft text and the citations could be improved further though. And no rush at all, I appreciate you engaging and taking another look. Andre🚐 21:12, 4 January 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Nice find, missed that one Andre🚐 20:07, 5 January 2023 (UTC)[reply]
@Andrevan I think he may at least meet WP:BASIC. Need to determine if he is the same Mark Wiens that was the CFO of Menu.com (source 2 above) in addition to being the same person who is co-author of Thailand from the Source (see Proquest link). It would be nice to have at least one review of Eating Thai Food Guide. Do you use WP:Library? You should have access. S0091 (talk) 21:05, 5 January 2023 (UTC)[reply]
I actually do not think the Menu.com guy is the same guy, but source #1 and #3 looks good [#3 looks like an op-ed actually], plus the others above. Yes I do use the Library although I didn't think to check Proquest but that's a good idea. I use the Jstor all the time and even pulled some stuff from De Gruyter recently. I'm 99% sure the Thailand from the Source book by Lonely Planet is the same Mark Wiens, though. See [4] he used to work for Lonely Planet. His personal bio[5] says Lonely Planet as well. @Andrevan:, so this is not really something you may want to hear, and is not something I always agree with, but AfC is more about something passing AfD than notability. When reviewing, we take into account a lot of things, including comments from other reviewers which shows the likelihood of survival or not. I have seen notable topics declined and borderline topics pass if that makes sense. I am also sure you have seen some AfD discussions go the complete opposite for what you felt they should. Now, explanation aside, the additional sources pointed out above shows me this has a better chance surviving AfD at this point and would recommend you simply move it to the mainspace. As stated on your talk page, an experienced user such as yourself would not be looked at as circumventing the process. It would make no difference of you moving it or a reviewer moving it as AfC is not a safety net from deletion discussions. At this point I personally wouldn't send it to AfD. Cheers. --CNMall41 (talk) 03:33, 6 January 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Done, thank you for working with me on this! Andre🚐 03:39, 6 January 2023 (UTC)[reply]
Glad it worked out, @Andrevan! I did still do some pecking around for a book review about Eating Thai Food Guide but didn't find anything. S0091 (talk) 18:56, 6 January 2023 (UTC)[reply]
Really appreciate the additional effort and sources. Andre🚐 21:21, 6 January 2023 (UTC)[reply]
