I proposed the merger. See Proposed Merger Page for reasoning. Arthurmeighan 01:51, 16 March 2006 (UTC)[reply]

The information regarding the university's Rhodes Scholars should be carefully watched. Dalhousie University, in Halifax, has graduated nearly double the amount of Rhodes Scholars and, therefore, I have changed the information in the "Academics" section.

Chancellor

[edit]

I know that university students spend a lot of time thinking about their future but please stop marking Peter Mansbridge as the chancellor of Mount Allison University. He will become chancellor in May 2010. Until that point in time John Bragg is the chancellor. I have had to switch it back at least three times now. Fair use rationale for Image:Mountallisonuni.gif

[edit]

Image:Mountallisonuni.gif is being used on this article. I notice the image page specifies that the image is being used under fair use but there is no explanation or rationale as to why its use in this Wikipedia article constitutes fair use. In addition to the boilerplate fair use template, you must also write out on the image description page a specific explanation or rationale for why using this image in each article is consistent with fair use.

Please go to the image description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale. Using one of the templates at Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to insure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page.

If there is other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified the fair use rationale on the other images used on this page. Note that any fair use images uploaded after 4 May, 2006, and lacking such an explanation will be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you.

Notable Alumni Vandalism

[edit]

As is likely to be expected, it appears as though former students who quite frankly are notable only to themselves are being added to the notable alumni list. Guessing by the pattern, it looks like they're adding themselves. Please undo any edits you notice by these persons. We should look into locking this section of the article. --Stoick (talk) 01:19, 24 March 2009 (UTC)[reply]

On-campus Housing

[edit]

A page should be created that details the residences. An ideal version would be one such as can be found on the page for the University of Florida. Would this be appropriate? Sjspence (talk) 05:56, 13 December 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Etymology

[edit]

Where does the name come from? At least, why "Mount ..."? This needs to be added.96.52.0.249 (talk) 14:53, 9 June 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Rankings

[edit]

I believe we need to verify the ranking information in the opening paragraph. This page states that Mount Allison has been ranked the top university in Canada by Maclean's for 18 of the past 25 years, cited in 2013. This conflicts with the McGill University page, which states that for 2015-2016 "McGill was ranked 1st in Canada among all its major/research universities in the Maclean's 24th annual rankings, maintaining this position for the 12th consecutive year". Two conflicts:

  1. If you add 18 + 12 you get 30 years of Maclean's, which conflicts with the McGill page's reference to 24 annual rankings
  2. Even if McGill had been ranked the top university for only 9 consecutive years as of 2013 and the rankings had been around for 25 years, that would only leave 16 years for Mount Allison to have been ranked top university.

--Cjhenck (talk) 18:19, 14 December 2016 (UTC)[reply]

MacLean's gives 3 different rankings: undergraduate, research, and comprehensive. McGill's ranking is for a research university. Mount Allison's is for an undergraduate university. They do not compete against each other in the Maclean's rankings. 156.34.12.28 (talk) 23:51, 4 March 2017 (UTC)[reply]

James Sumner 1910-11

[edit]

@Jmdc-chicago: Please explain why you have twice removed the information that James Sumner was only at Mount A for one year, from 1910 to 1911, since the Nobel prize page reference clearly says that he started that job in 1910 and another job at Worcester MA in 1911. The phrase "began work starting in 1910" which you have reinserted could suggest that he stayed for more years, which is not true.

I will now restore my wording again. Please do not remove it again without explanation. Thank you. Dirac66 (talk) 00:22, 31 July 2024 (UTC)[reply]
