European Championship
[edit]In European Championship it says
1976 Did not qualify - Quarterfinals (lost to Czechoslovakia)
What does this mean?
—Preceding unsigned comment added by Crazy 29 (talk • contribs)
- Take a look at 1976 European Football Championship#Final tournament. You can see that the finals start from the semi-finals, meaning that losing in the QFs = failing to qualify. Slumgum T. C. 00:40, 27 July 2006 (UTC)
All Participants of the USSR National Team (1952-1991)
[edit]If this does not have a verifiable source, it should sadly have to be removed, per WP:OR and WP:V. If it does have a source, it should perhaps be moved to List of USSR national football team players anyway. sʟυмɢυм • т • c 21:46, 22 November 2006 (UTC)
- First of all, the list looks like it was taken from some website. But is this information really pertinent to this article?.. --Palffy 22:47, 23 November 2006 (UTC)
if you think this list is wrong or any doubt over it's accuracy or authenticity, you are all wrong. Anyway, i will remove it........ SB
Recent Edits
[edit]This article is the recent football collaboration of the week but it seems like nobody cares. I added many extra work to the article but I can't do more because I am not even Russian. Other details must come from people familiar to the USSR national football team. Deliogul 13:50, 10 January 2007 (UTC)
World Cup 1982
[edit]For some reason, the article suggested that Belgium beat USSR in 1982 World Cup. It is not correct - USSR won 1-0 but as eliminated due to drawing Poland and Poland beating Belgium, 3-0. I made the change.Goliath74 (talk) 01:39, 17 November 2007 (UTC)
First match
[edit]According to this RSSSF page, the first RSFSR match was against Sweden, and the Estonia match was the third. I'll change it for now, but if anyone has a more authoritative source some confirmation would be useful. Oldelpaso 10:51, 13 January 2007 (UTC)
88 Soviet union tactics
[edit]Hi - I was looking for a a bit an anyalsis of the fairly revolutionary (not a pun) tactics that the Soviet Union football team deployed in the eighties with heavy emphasis on long shots. I believe that statistians helped develop the tactics. Can any kind soul add the details? SRL —Preceding unsigned comment added by 81.97.199.209 (talk) 20:59, 8 April 2008 (UTC)
World Cup 1986
[edit]Somehow the results from World Cup 1982 were mistakingly listed in the section about World Cup 1986, instead of the game against Belgium (3-4). I have fixed it.--Vs1969 (talk) 19:51, 28 March 2008 (UTC)
Nationalities of the notable players
[edit]I wonder how was that decided? If it is done by ethnicity than have of "Ukrainians" have to be under Russia, and some "Russians" under Ukraine. If by the club where they were playing - then players like Simonyan, etc have to be in a different column as well. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 132.204.90.106 (talk) 04:04, 22 June 2008 (UTC)
- I deleted the entire list since it's clearly a violation of WP:NOR. There's no explanation as to how it was organized. Was it based on ethnicity? If so, do we list a player twice if he is part Russian and part Ukraininan? What happens if we don't know the ethnicity of a player's mother or father, do we then decide by the family name? Do we simply list the player based on the republic he was born in? Do we list by the teams they played for? Choosing one seems completely arbitrary. I appreciate the amount of work someone put into this, and so I hate to see it go, but such a list is not feasible.--98.232.98.144 (talk) 17:37, 26 April 2009 (UTC)

History before 1952
[edit]This period seems is lacking information. Having a first match in 1923, and a first official match in 1924; and being a rather large state, why haven't the USSR participated in any of the big competitions prior to 1952? That's 5 world cups, 1930-1950, and 4 olympics, 1928-1948. Or conversely, why then start to participate in 1952 and 1954? - Nabla (talk) 14:11, 26 November 2013 (UTC)
