Electric Park, Waterloo
[edit]Electric Park was an amusement park near Waterloo, Iowa, USA. Operating from about 1908 to 1925, Electric Park was a trolley park that was owned, operated, and served by the Waterloo & Cedar Falls Rapid Transit Interurban Railway Company.[1][2] It was located on the west bank of the Cedar River near the San Souci development on Sans Souci Island. Along the usual attractions of American amusement parks in the early Twentieth Century, the Waterloo Electric Park featured a unique water-powered Ferris wheel. In 1925, the park burnt to the ground, but the pavilion survived and is still in use today.

Electric Park, contained a range of attractions common to an electric-powered amusement parks after the turn of the century including the "Spiral Thriller" roller coaster, various carnival rides, free boxing matches, a ball room, and popular picnic grounds. An advertisement in the Waterloo Courier in 1910 noted that the Electric Park "included amusements of a lighter nature, calculated to catch the attention of all classes, including those who are wont to regard the Chautauqua program as rather heavy diet for the summer season."
