P.S. Please don't ask me to make one of those fancy navbars. You know, the ones with lots of pics. One of my favourite quotes is: → Simplicity is the Ultimate Sophistication.
Est omnino difficile iudicare inclusionis meritum cuiusdam rei in encyclopædia cum ratio sciendi quid populi referat incerta sit, sed nihilominus aliquid encyclopædiam dedecet
It is generally difficult to judge the worthiness of a particular topic for inclusion in an encyclopedia considering that there is no certain way to know what interests people, but some topics nevertheless are not fit for an encyclopedia.
This motto reflects the desire of these Wikipedians to be reluctant, but not entirely unwilling, to remove articles from Wikipedia.
HI! I'm from Hong Kong. I'm a second-year university student, and have been updating this line since I was in primary school.
I joined Wikipedia as a curious child and stuck around for a few years, engaging at various times in content creation, vandalism fighting, motto writing and gnoming. I still remember the excitement of getting each of my fresh, new articles in WP:DYK and looking at the cool citation styles that I created with Wikipedia templates. Nor will I ever forget my involvement with the MOTD when it reached the apex of its development. I wrote a set of guidelines outlining common practice at the MOTD and created some discussion-related templates which were later improved on by User:pjoef and others.
During my teenage years, Wikibooks caught my attention, and I acquired a (notorious) habit of starting book projects but never getting round to finishing any of them. After I went to high school, the stress of the HKDSE overwhelmed me, and I spent all my time on the curriculum, only occasionally dabbling in WP, and using WB mostly for the sake of taking (and sharing) personal notes online.
Oh, and of course - Wikinews. I was very excited about Wikinews for a while, even agreeing to become an administrator at one point. But then schoolwork piled up, I left all Wikimedia projects temporarily, and my admin right was removed, having never once been exercised. I feel bad about it to this day, and to the members of the Wikinews community whom I have disappointed, I offer my deepest apologies, even if you may not read my Wikipedia userpage.
Having entered university, and joined other sites (including several in which I was a regular member at different points), I am still not prepared to resume my early teenage level of activity on WP. However, you will still see me editing the occasional article as I browse, correcting typos, adding {{fact}} tags and, who knows, maybe even writing articles from time to time.
Wikibooks remains, to this day, the place on the Internet I call my home, even if I only check back every couple of months. I hope that one day, I will get round to tying some of the many loose ends I left on this site, though only time will tell if I can. I aspire to become a university professor, and I have seen cases of Wikibooks being developed cooperatively in class as a project, which is something I might attempt if my dream is realised.
