Pages I've Revised

[edit]

I haven't revised anything on Wikipedia in a long time, mainly because I'd forgotten my password! However, last time I passed through I revised the Spanish universities page. I wasn't happy with it at the time, as I'd used bits of information harvested from other wiki pages, but it did help to get the stub going. The page has since been renamed "Higher education in Spain".

Pages I've Translated

[edit]

I translated both the Radio Nacional de España and RTVE pages from the Spanish versions, although the latter was more of a major rewrite in the end as I had to add information from other sources (the original was a bit sparse). However the sources were also in Spanish, so I think I can still get away with calling it a translation.

I lost heart with the pages in the end as one person immediately "Americanised" the text (although did reverse this when asked), and another person deleted a whole section on governance (which is/was by "indirect management") claiming that this was irrelevant! Anyway, I have yet to go back and fix it, and in the meantime I notice the original Spanish pages have been updated. Any further work would need to incorporate this.

On a good note, I am chuffed to see both articles have since received the high importance ranking on WikiProject Spain.

Most recently, I translated the page on (Welsh) lovespoons to Spanish. I wouldn't normally translate FROM English, but I had just bought one of these spoons for a friend who was getting married and couldn't find any information about them in Spanish. I would very much appreciate it if a native Spanish speaker could proofread it! See:

Pages I'm Translating

[edit]

Nothing at the moment, although if you have any suggestions please leave a message on my talk page. I am particularly interested in the politics and society of 19th and 20th century Europe, which was a major component of my degree, but would consider anything related to Spain and Spanish-speaking societies. It all depends on how much time I've got on my hands - don't expect a quick response!

Pages I'm Most Impressed by

[edit]

All of the pages on Sweden and Finland, especially on these countries' respective governments and politics - this really helped with exam revision, and they are obviously lovingly maintained.

Edit of which I'm Most Proud

[edit]

Catherine Cornaro - added note about her retirement retreat being the inspiration for Pietro Bembo's Gli Asolani and that she was declared "Daughter of the Republic" so that the Venetians could get their hands on Cyprus. This was a glaring omission!
